Job description

GreatAmerica Financial Services is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join our Enterprise Technology Group. The role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining services and APIs that support the company's business needs.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, implement, and maintain services and APIs.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and fix issues in existing applications, services, and APIs.
  • Document and build application code based on best practices and engineering principles.
  • Understand the broader business context and advocate for solutions that meet the "why" behind the code.
  • Contribute ideas on best practices, process improvements, and architectural decisions.
  • Participate in design and architectural discussions, review user stories, and provide technical solutions and acceptance criteria.
  • Engage in agile product teams to build quality, scalable, and robust products.
  • Deploy and manage services and APIs in various environments using CI/CD pipelines.
  • Create and maintain automated integration and unit tests.
  • Perform peer code reviews and enforce coding standards.
  • Present new services and APIs to the team and stakeholders.
  • Answer qualified support calls from users.
  • Train, coach, and mentor other software engineers and interns.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience with a recent focus on services and APIs.
  • 8+ years of experience with object‑oriented programming principles, solution design, automated testing, validation, and error handling.
  • 8+ years of experience with SQL‑based databases and SQL programming.
  • 5+ years of experience in Agile development environments.
  • 5+ years of experience with Swagger/OAS and developing APIs based on the specification.
  • 5+ years of experience with C# (or similar object‑oriented language).
  • 5+ years of experience with Postman and integration testing tools.
  • 3+ years of experience with Event‑Driven Architecture and creating event publishers/subscribers.
  • 3+ years of experience with AsyncAPI specifications.
  • 3+ years of experience working with the Salesforce platform and ecosystem.
  • Experience implementing and consuming microservices.
  • Preferred: experience with Azure, MuleSoft, or similar API gateway technologies.
  • Ability to read, use, and produce system design artifacts such as flowcharts and wireframes.
  • Familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite.
