Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Inspector to join our team at Poughkeepsie Metro-North Station. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting inspections, ensuring compliance with construction contract documents, and assisting in project oversight for Small Business Mentoring Program. This role requires strong organizational skills, technical expertise, and the ability to manage inspections in a fast-paced construction environment.

Responsibilities: Conduct daily surveillance and inspections to ensure work complies with Construction Contract Documents. Prepare detailed daily inspection reports for MTA C&D, documenting labor force and work activities. Monitor 6-week look-ahead schedules to identify total float, baseline variances, and potential risks.

Assist in risk mitigation and change control actions. Generate non-conformance reports on Asite for defective work and review/approve Quality Work Plans. Participate in weekly staff and monthly job progress meetings.

Review daily work plans and shop drawings. Develop inspection forms and checklists to audit construction and inspection processes. Conduct rigorous inspections (day/night/weekends) to ensure safety and compliance.

Serve as Engineer-in-Charge (EIC) during weekend general outages, ensuring safety and compliance. Manage project closeout processes, including punch-list completion and warranty documentation. Streamline the submission, review, and approval process for project submittals using Asite.

Track and document RFIs, ensuring accurate and timely responses to maintain project timelines. Key Job Functions: The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting inspections, ensuring compliance with construction contract documents, and assisting in project oversight for MTA C&D projects. This role requires strong organizational skills, technical expertise, and the ability to manage inspections in a fast-paced construction environment.Requirements and Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

3-5 years of experience in construction inspection, preferably in roadway or transit projects. Familiarity with MTA C&D standards and construction contract documents. Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and inspection procedures.

Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks. Proficiency in report writing and documentation.
