Job description

MSSU is currently seeking candidates for a non-tenure track Clinical Instructor Position in the on campus Social Work Program in Joplin, MO starting August 2027. Successful candidates will have oversight of the MSW Field Education Coordinator duties. The position requires a demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence and advising at the undergraduate level. A Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited program, and two years post graduate practice experience is required.

MSW Field Education Coordinator responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Recruit, develop, approve and maintain field placements. Supervise and evaluation field education student and agency supervisor.
  • Provide training to field education faculty, agency supervisors and staff for effective field education development.
  • Implement field education policies and procedures and maintain accurate data collection in accordance with Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) standards.

In addition to Field Education Coordinator administrative responsibilities, the successful candidate will teach field related courses and engage in service to the Department, College, University and profession. Candidate must have demonstrated expertise in field of social work practice at the individual, family, group, organization and/or community level. Areas of social work specialty can include direct client general practice, administration and policy, and social welfare research and/or program evaluation. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students and community partners required.
