General Statement
The Office of Student Engagement (OSE) serves as an important resource for Montana State University students seeking opportunities for involvement and connection outside of the classroom. Through a diverse array of programs, events, services, and activities, we facilitate meaningful engagement experiences tailored to the interests, passions, and needs of our student body. Whether through joining student organizations, participating in campus events, or volunteering in the community, OSE empowers students to create connections, develop leadership skills, and make a positive impact during their time at MSU. Duties and Responsibilities
  • Registered Student Organization Support and Programming
    • Advise student organizations as they seek assistance regarding programs, university policy, leadership, conflict management, club registration, and other relevant trainings and topics.
    • Design and deliver timely, relevant workshops and seminars that foster leadership development and provide essential training for student organizations.
    • Refer and support student organizations as they navigate the club funding process through ASMSU.
    • Collaborate with ASMSU Funding board and ASMSU business office as they develop and implement procedures for student organization funding
  • Marketing and Outreach
    • Lead outreach and marketing initiatives to increase awareness and utilization of Anthology and Navengage engagement software (CatsConnect). Provide training and support to students, faculty, and staff, focusing on promoting events and enhancing student learning through co-curricular experiences Manage and grow systems for diverse use across campus units, developing assessment and data collection.
    • Develop, maintain, and update departmental marketing and promotional materials-including web content-for student engagement events, ensuring accessibility, relevance, visual consistency, and alignment with MSU's brand guidelines.
    • Design, schedule, and post a variety of outreach messages and media across Office of Student Engagement social media accounts in accordance with content guidelines and university policy
    • Seek new outreach opportunities and make relevant operational changes to grow marketing and communications impact
  • Office Operations and Student Focused Events
    • Support the planning and execution of student engagement programs such as MSU Debut, Catapalooza, Day of Student Recognition, and Service Saturdays, and others.
    • Collaborate with OSE staff and leadership to design and implement new programming and events tailored to MSU students
    • Cultivate expertise in the utilization of Anthology and Navengage engagement software (CatsConnect). Help OSE staff utilize this technology to the greatest extent.
    • Maintain respectful working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community stakeholders.

Required Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  1. Bachelor's degree in related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  2. Experience in public speaking, event planning and hosting, marketing and outreach.
  3. Experience Microsoft Office and basic marketing tools.
  4. Knowledge of marketing strategies, including use of social media, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or web content management systems.
  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  6. Experience with professional implementation of graphic design, and various outreach and social media platforms.
  7. Demonstrated competence organizing and prioritizing multiple workloads, meeting deadlines, and exercising adaptability to changing priorities while balancing the needs of students, faculty, and staff stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  1. Two or more years professional experience working in higher education, nonprofit, or public organizations
  2. Experience in planning, implementation, and assessment strategies for ongoing, successful student development and leadership programming.
  3. Experience advising student organizations and/or supervising student employees.
  4. Familiarity with engagement platforms such as Antholgy and NavEngage
  5. Experience developing and facilitating leadership trainings or workshops.
  6. Competence with the appropriate use of generative AI tools in a professional context.
