Job description

CAL IT Group is a growing full-service Managed Services Provider (MSP) currently seeking a Systems Administrator.
In this role, you will design, implement, and maintain the server and network infrastructure for our diverse client base. If you're technically sharp, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and enjoy owning complex systems from end to end, we'd like to meet you. To succeed, you should have a strong problem-solving mindset, deep technical expertise across server and network environments, and the ability to communicate clearly with both technical peers and non-technical clients. Ultimately, you will ensure the stability, security, and performance of client infrastructure while delivering exceptional service.
Responsibilities:
-Administer and maintain Windows Server environments including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and file/print services across multiple client environments
-Deploy, configure, and manage virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud infrastructure (Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365)
-Design and implement network infrastructure including switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless systems
-Manage and monitor client backup and disaster recovery solutions, ensuring RTO/RPO targets are met
-Lead server provisioning, migrations, upgrades, and decommissions
-Perform proactive monitoring and maintenance of client systems using RMM tools; identify and resolve issues before they impact the client
-Create, maintain, and improve technical documentation and processes
-Provide escalation support for Level I/II technicians and assist with mentoring on complex infrastructure issues
-Audit client environments for security vulnerabilities and compliance gaps; implement remediation plans
-Participate in after-hours on-call rotation and respond to critical infrastructure incidents
-Collaborate with vCIO and project teams to scope, plan, and execute infrastructure projects
-Establishing, recommending and implementing policies to ensure quality, timely and efficient design of customer oriented services
-Handling escalated issues from customers
-Analyzing existing operations and scheduling training sessions and meetings to discuss improvements
-Motivating staff and creating a space where they can ask questions and voice their concerns
Requirements:
-4–6 years of experience in a systems administration or infrastructure role, preferably in an MSP environment
-Bachelor's Degree or College Diploma in a relevant field preferred
-Microsoft certifications (MCSA, AZ-104, MS-102) or equivalent experience required
-Hands-on experience with Windows Server (2016/2019/2022), Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 administration
-Solid understanding of networking fundamentals: switching, routing, firewalls, VLANs, VPN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, QoS, and VoIP
-Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware ESXi, Hyper-V) and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS)
-Familiarity with backup technologies (Datto, Veeam, Acronis) and disaster recovery planning
-Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
-Ability to manage multiple client environments simultaneously with minimal supervision
-Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required for occasional on-site client visits
-Ability to participate in after hours on-call rotation
