The Importance of the Role

Reporting to the Vice President, Global Medical Affairs Strategy and Field, the MSL Team Lead is responsible for the development of the vision, strategy and tactical plans, resource and budget plans, ongoing development and refinement of the regional MSL team in collaboration with the VP and regional MSL Lead counterpart. The MSL Lead will demonstrate ability to conduct scientific discourse with subject matter experts and key thought leaders in neurology/neuromuscular disease and/or rare diseases, along with leadership experience in directing KOL-driven activities of the MSL team. The successful leader will be a highly driven individual who combines scientific knowledge with a focus on ensuring scientific rigor of the field team and compassion for the patients we serve. This leader will also contribute to the development of MSL training, MSL process and policy and thought leader strategy development.

The Opportunity to Make a Difference

  • Oversees Regional MSL team; Develops and coaches on field medical tactics and initiatives based on GMA strategy, ensures scientific excellence, and fosters relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs)
  • Participates in cross-functional teams/workstreams to understand and communicate data gaps, assist in data generation and communication strategies, and contributes to the development of Medical Strategy Plans
  • Leads and executes autonomously with confidence; Sets clear goals, delegates appropriately, and consistently delivers.
  • Responsibility for all aspects of people management within the MSL team region
    • Provides strategic guidance;
    • Builds alignment around goals and objectives;
    • Trains, motivates, and influences others on a regular basis.
    • Identifies opportunities and actively engages in each of their direct reports' career development plan
  • Ensures field medical team is equipped with appropriate medical scientific information and tools for scientific exchange of information
  • Demonstrates a customer-oriented mindset, anticipates field needs, and communicates relevant field insights to internal stakeholders while enabling pull-through of actions across medical team
  • Attends and supports scientific/professional meetings/conferences consistent with areas of therapeutic responsibility; represents company on presentations and panels as appropriate
  • Develops and implements initiatives to expand and maximize the effectiveness of their functional area, while maintaining focus on key priorities
  • Provides proactive status reports that visualize KPIs and demonstrate quality of team outcomes
  • Leads by example, driving a culture of teamwork and partnering within own organization and other key groups across the company to empower teams.
  • Core understanding of and track record of complying with industry and regulatory compliance guidelines; ability to apply knowledge to team activities
  • Ensures self and team completion of administrative tasks, including system use (Veeva, Concur)), KOL interaction tracking, conference coverage, expense reports

  • Graduate level degree required (MD, PhD, PharmD, NP/PA, DPT, MSN)
  • 12-15+ years of professional experience with a minimum of 5-7 years field medical experience
  • Proven ability to lead and execute autonomously with confidence and is results-oriented
  • Advanced knowledge of Sarepta products, competitive landscape, market and healthcare space maintained through continuous learning and knowledge of the therapeutic area related scientific literature
  • Highly decisive and action-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deal effectively with deadlines
