About this Position

The Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences, Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Associate/Full Professor in Food Animal Medicine and Surgery.

If you have a passion for educating the next generation of veterinarians and veterinary specialists, providing exceptional patient care, love contributing to clinical research and want to work in a collegial and supportive environment, this is the position for you.

Responsibilities will include teaching and clinical service in the Food Animal (FA) Clinic of the Veterinary Medical Hospital, training of residents and interns, clinical research, and didactic lectures and laboratory instruction for veterinary students. Clinical responsibilities will include primary to tertiary care within the Food Animal Section of the Large Animal Hospital.

Tired of being on call 24/7? We have a separate after-hours large animal emergency service. This service currently has three faculty clinicians, one ACVIM LAIM board-certified and one ACVECC residency trained, one ACVS LA residency trained with a fourth position waiting to be filled.

Applicants must have a DVM or equivalent veterinary degree, residency training in large animal internal medicine, large animal surgery, preventative medicine or food animal practice and certification by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM LAIM), American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS), American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine (ACVPM), or American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP). Candidates qualified to take the ACVIM, ACVS, ACVPM, or ABVP certification examination are encouraged to apply. Eligibility for faculty licensure in Oklahoma is required. At least six years of experience post residency training is desirable. A graduate degree (MSc or PhD) is desirable. Interest and clinical experience in routine food animal theriogenology is desirable. Opportunity to participate in the food animal ambulatory service is available to interested candidates. Candidates certified by comparable EBVS recognized Colleges are encouraged to apply.

The FA section is a well-equipped service and sees a robust food animal caseload which consists of beef cattle and small ruminants with smaller numbers of camelids, dairy cattle, and swine. Approximately one half to two-thirds of the caseload consists of primary care cases drawn from a large geographic area with the balance consisting of referral cases.

This is a full-time tenure-track position with an excellent benefits package, 4 weeks of vacation, and an equipped office. You will have the opportunity to develop as a veterinary educator supported by an enthusiastic and fantastic group of educational professionals in our Office of Curriculum and Educational Support (https://vetmed.okstate.edu/about/oces.html). Funding support for professional development is provided. Professional rank and salary will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience.

Oklahoma State University offers many benefits to its employees, including opportunity for childcare on campus, tuition waivers for dependent children of faculty, eligibility for public service student loan forgiveness, free membership to the University's Wellness Facilities https://wellness.okstate.edu/recreation/facilities/, and mental health resources including onsite counseling.

Review of applicants will begin upon receipt of applications and will continue until the position is filled. Applications including letter of intent with statement of professional goals, curriculum vitae, and three names of references and contact information should be submitted at https://jobs.okstate.edu.
