A Brief Overview
The MRO Supervisor oversees the procurement, inventory management, and distribution of maintenance, repair, and operations supplies to ensure that the plant's maintenance activities are effectively supported. This role is responsible for supervising the MRO Buyer(s), coordinating with suppliers, and working closely with the maintenance team to optimize inventory levels and reduce downtime. The MRO Supervisor also plays a key role in cost control, supplier performance evaluation, and maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
What you will do

  • Lead and support MRO Buyer(s) in procurement and inventory management activities, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to promote effective teamwork and productivity.
  • Develop procurement strategies for MRO supplies, negotiate with suppliers for favorable pricing and terms, and manage relationships to ensure reliable sourcing. Evaluate vendor performance regularly to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.
  • Oversee inventory levels to support maintenance needs while minimizing carrying costs. Implement practices to optimize inventory turnover and reduce excess stock. Conduct periodic audits to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Monitor spending on MRO supplies, track and report costs, and collaborate with the maintenance manager to stay within budget. Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance planner and team to ensure materials availability for work orders, using the CMMS to track parts usage and support maintenance planning.
  • Ensure all MRO supplies meet safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. Promote safe handling and storage practices within the department, working with safety teams as needed.
  • Duties may vary slightly by location.


Education Qualifications

  • High School Diploma (Required) or
  • Bachelor's Degree Supply Chain Management (Preferred)


Experience Qualifications

  • 4-6 years in procurement, inventory management, or MRO buying, with supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting (Required)
  • 1-3 years using CMMS or ERP systems to manage inventory and procurement processes (Required)
