Job Summary
The Administrative Manager provides operational leadership and administrative expertise for multiple outpatient MRI locations within Michigan Medicine. Reporting to the Administrative Director, the incumbent is responsible for directing the day-to-day operations of assigned locations while ensuring safe, effective, efficient, and patient-centered care. The Administrative Manager leads a multidisciplinary workforce, promotes employee engagement and accountability, and implements departmental initiatives that support the mission, vision, and strategic priorities of Michigan Medicine. The Administrative Manager is accountable for achieving operational, quality, safety, financial, patient access, employee engagement, and patient experience goals for assigned outpatient MRI operations while supporting the Department of Radiology's strategic priorities.
Working collaboratively with physician, nursing, and administrative leadership, the Administrative Manager monitors operational performance, identifies opportunities for process improvement, and provides recommendations to enhance patient access, quality, safety, service, and operational efficiency. The incumbent has a measurable impact on operational effectiveness, achievement of departmental objectives, employee engagement, financial stewardship, and the experience of both internal and external customers. The Administrative Manager is expected to develop future leaders, foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement, serve as an operational partner to physician and administrative leadership in advancing the Department of Radiology's strategic initiatives, and build collaborative relationships with physician leaders, referring providers, and multidisciplinary partners to support operational excellence and exceptional patient care.
This position provides operational oversight for assigned outpatient MRI locations, including:

- Brighton Center for Specialty Care (BCSC)
- Forbes Sports Medicine Institute (FSMI)
- Troy Advanced Imaging Center (TAIC)
- Mobile MRI operations
- Future outpatient MRI locations and expansion sites as assigned.
Responsibilities*
- Direct the day-to-day operations of assigned outpatient MRI locations, ensuring safe, efficient, high-quality, and patient-centered care while aligning with departmental and organizational priorities.
- Establish operational objectives, assign work, and oversee daily operations to support departmental performance goals and service excellence.
- Exercise independent judgment in managing daily operations while escalating significant operational, financial, staffing, regulatory, or strategic issues to the Administrative Director, as appropriate.
- Optimize patient access, scheduling efficiency, throughput, and resource utilization while maintaining quality, safety, and an exceptional patient experience.
- Promote an exceptional patient and family experience by fostering a culture of service excellence, responsiveness, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor operational performance through key performance indicators, dashboards, and other performance metrics, identifying opportunities for improvement and providing recommendations to departmental leadership.
- Develop and implement operational workflow improvements and quality initiatives that enhance patient care, employee engagement, operational efficiency, and service delivery.
- Lead Lean and other continuous improvement initiatives to improve workflow, reduce waste, and support operational excellence.
- Collaborate with physician leadership, nursing, advanced practice providers, engineering, facilities, information technology, and administrative leaders to resolve operational issues and implement approved initiatives.
- Support the planning, activation, and operational implementation of capital projects, equipment installations, facility expansions, and new clinical programs in collaboration with departmental leadership.
- Evaluate operational needs and provide recommendations regarding technology, equipment, staffing models, and workflow improvements to support departmental goals.
- Recruit, hire, onboard, supervise, coach, mentor, and develop technical and non-technical staff while fostering an engaged, inclusive, and accountable work environment.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide ongoing coaching and feedback, and address performance concerns in accordance with institutional policies and applicable collective bargaining agreements.
- Support succession planning and leadership development by identifying opportunities for employee growth and professional advancement.
- Assist in the development and management of departmental operating budgets by monitoring productivity, staffing, supply utilization, and operational expenses, while providing recommendations to the Administrative Director.
- Develop staffing plans and recommend workforce strategies to ensure safe, efficient, and sustainable operations across assigned locations.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory, accreditation, MRI safety, quality, patient safety, and institutional standards while promoting a culture of safety and continuous regulatory readiness.
- Implement departmental policies, strategic initiatives, and operational priorities as established by Radiology leadership.
- Provide operational recommendations and strategic input to the Administrative Director regarding staffing, capital planning, patient access initiatives, workflow optimization, and service expansion.
- Support emergency preparedness, business continuity planning, and operational contingency planning for assigned clinical areas.
- Represent the department on committees, multidisciplinary workgroups, and organizational initiatives as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Administrative Director or Department Administrator in support of the Department of Radiology's mission.
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Radiologic Sciences, or a related field.
- Current ARRT certification and registration, or an equivalent imaging credential.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare operations, including supervisory or management responsibilities.
- Demonstrated experience leading teams in a fast-paced, complex healthcare environment.
- Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong analytical, critical-thinking, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, administrators, peers, direct reports, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Demonstrated ability to lead change, manage competing priorities, and achieve operational goals in a dynamic healthcare environment.
Desired Qualifications*
- Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Radiologic Sciences, or a related field.
- Graduation from an accredited educational program in an imaging modality.
- Five (5) or more years of leadership experience within Diagnostic Radiology, with MRI leadership experience strongly preferred.
- Experience overseeing multiple imaging locations or ambulatory healthcare operations.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams within a complex academic medical center or integrated healthcare system.
- Experience supervising or managing employees represented by a labor union.
- Experience utilizing operational dashboards, key performance indicators, and data analytics to drive operational improvement and support operational decision-making.
- Experience leading Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous process improvement initiatives.
- Experience supporting capital planning, facility activation, equipment implementation, or major operational projects.
- Experience with Epic, Cadence, or comparable healthcare information systems.
- Demonstrated experience managing geographically dispersed clinical operations.
Modes of Work

Work Schedule
Primarily Monday through Friday, first shift. Flexible work hours may be required to support multiple outpatient locations, operational needs, meetings, project implementation, and department initiatives.
40 hours per week (exempt position); additional hours may be required to fulfill leadership responsibilities and operational needs
Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.
