Accounts Payable Specialist

In this role you will supervise the accounts payable processes, including maintaining records of amounts owed, verifying invoices, computing discounts, coding expenses.  Responsibilities include accounting functions up to financial statements including accounts payable, collections and other general accounting

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Recommends changes in methods or procedures to improve the efficiency of the AP unit.
  • Ensures all policies and procedures are implemented.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to research and resolve difficult AP related problems.
  • Superior follow-up skills to ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner
  • Directs and coordinates activities of employees engaged in conducting accounts payable processing and inquiries.
  • Daily interaction with customers and vendors
  • Routinely involved with sales and purchasing as well as warehouse supervisors.
  • Reconciles general ledger activity of related AP accounts.
  • Assists with accounts receivable by supporting and maintaining customer accounts.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent mathematical skills, with the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Experience with ERP systems strongly preferred.
Education and Experience:
  • Associate’s degree in accounting
  • Minimum of 3 years’ previous experience in accounting or related area
