Job description

MalaceHR is seeking an experienced Project Manager Furniture to support a leading corporate facilities client. This position is responsible for managing the planning, procurement, coordination, and installation of furniture packages for commercial workplace projects.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in furniture project management, furniture dealerships, owner's representation, or corporate workplace environments and understands the technical aspects of commercial furniture systems. While design experience is beneficial, this role is heavily focused on project execution, coordination, procurement, budgeting, scheduling, and client management.

This is a 69 month contract assignment providing maternity leave coverage, with the potential to transition into a full-time opportunity based on business needs and performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Independently manage furniture projects from planning through final installation.
  • Oversee projects up to approximately 50,000 rentable square feet (RSF) and assist with larger workplace projects.
  • Develop furniture Scopes of Work (SOW) and procurement packages.
  • Coordinate activities between project managers, architects, furniture dealers, vendors, clients, and construction teams.
  • Manage furniture procurement, vendor selection, order entry, and delivery schedules.
  • Review furniture Bills of Materials (BOM) and design deliverables for accuracy and completeness.
  • Track project budgets, schedules, procurement milestones, and installation timelines.
  • Coordinate relocation planning, move management communications, and change management activities.
  • Maintain project documentation, including furniture logs, procurement records, budgets, schedules, and open item trackers.
  • Serve as the primary client contact for all furniture-related questions and project updates.
  • Lead project meetings and communicate project status with stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with client standards, company procedures, and project requirements.
  • Identify project risks and proactively resolve issues to maintain project schedules.
  • Collaborate closely with internal project management and construction teams to ensure seamless project execution.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in one of the following:
    • Project Management
    • Construction Management
    • Interior Design
    • Communications
    • Or a related field
  • 35 years of experience in furniture project management or a related role.
  • Experience working within:
    • Corporate real estate
    • Furniture dealerships
    • Architecture & Design (A&D) firms
    • Owner's representative environments
  • Strong understanding of commercial furniture specifications and technical coordination.
  • Experience developing furniture Scopes of Work and procurement packages.
  • Familiarity with furniture procurement, order management, and installation coordination.
  • Ability to review architectural drawings, furniture layouts, and Bills of Materials (BOM).
  • Strong project management, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and client relationship management abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines and budget expectations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience working as a Furniture Project Manager, Furniture Dealer Project Manager, or Owner's Representative.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • NCIDQ certification.
  • Experience using CAD, CET, or other furniture design software.
  • Understanding of commercial construction processes and workplace renovations.
  • Experience supporting corporate office relocations, workplace transformations, or occupancy projects.

Travel & Work Environment
  • Candidates must reside in Austin, Dallas, or Houston, Texas.
  • Hybrid work environment with:
    • 23 days per week at a local office.
    • Travel to client sites as project needs require.
  • Additional project-related travel expenses (airfare, hotel, meals, etc.) are reimbursed.
  • Occasional early morning or after-hours work may be required during furniture installations.
