JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Coordinates and creates a variety of graphic design work.
  • Plays a vital role in developing and maintaining a cohesive visual identity that aligns with Emory's mission, vision, values, and strategic framework.
  • Ensures deliverables meet creative briefs and aligns with Emory's business and brand goals, while also contributing to the design and execution of high-quality artwork in partnership with project managers, and experts across various disciplines.
  • Contributes to the creative process, including team brainstorms, and presentations.
  • Works in a collaborative and creative environment, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, inspiration, and continuous improvement.
  • Provides clear communication and articulates rationale regarding creative vision, strategy, and justifications.
  • Follows workflow processes and leverages the project management system to ensure projects are completed efficiently.
  • Keeps interested parties informed about projects on a regular basis.
  • May lead production for print projects, including vendor selection, spec sheets, estimations, proofing, and press checks when necessary.
  • Manages vendor relationships for quality, accuracy, and brand consistency.
  • Stays up to date on industry trends, including the latest skills, techniques, and best practices in the field of visual design, higher education, and marketing.
  • Builds relationships with colleagues to collaborate on projects and jointly recommends creative solutions.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

PERFERED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Able to complete the simple site survey(no electrical needed sign projects).
  • Understand Floor Plan and program the signage onto the floor plan after the site survey
  • Understand scale calculation from full size to scaled drawing
  • Understand the sign types and ADA CODE.
  • Able to create the basic interior base building signage package, SD, early DD phase
  • Able to crate signage message schedule
  • Understand the minimum of the temporary and permanent signage material
  • Graphic layout for maps, banners, etc.
  • Knowledge of most of the temp and permanent signage material on the market.
  • Conceptualize, prepare, and design SD, DD phase
  • Procurement skill
  • Work w/ vendors on the projects and was able to process the project smoothly. 
  • Able to make proper decisions on-site during the installations. 
  • Maintains ongoing awareness of graphic design industry trends and developments  
  • Works with clients requesting signage by developing ideas/concepts/designs/mockups while ensuring consistency with overall environmental, visual and aesthetic plans for the University. 
  • Able to follow guidelines/standards on the design drawings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design or a related field and two years of experience utilizing appropriate software.
  • Previous work experience at an corporate in-house organization, signage industry, or higher education in-house creative team is preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite applications.
  • A strong and diverse portfolio highlighting exceptional skills and proficiency in signage. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
