Job description

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Industrial Controls Engineer to design, develop, program, and support automation and control systems for manufacturing and industrial processes. This individual will work closely with engineering, operations, maintenance, and project teams to improve equipment performance, increase reliability, and support new automation initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with PLC programming, HMI/SCADA development, electrical controls design, and industrial networking within a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, program, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC-based control systems.
  • Develop and modify HMI and SCADA applications for industrial equipment and processes.
  • Create and maintain electrical schematics, panel layouts, and control system documentation.
  • Support startup, commissioning, and validation of new equipment and automation systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve controls-related issues affecting production equipment.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to improve machine reliability and uptime.
  • Configure and troubleshoot VFDs, servo systems, motion controls, sensors, and instrumentation.
  • Develop and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, safety, and quality.
  • Maintain industrial communication networks including Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profinet, and DeviceNet.
  • Provide technical support and training to maintenance personnel and operators.
  • Participate in capital projects from concept through implementation.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety standards, electrical codes, and company policies.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field.

  • 3+ years of experience in industrial automation, controls engineering, or manufacturing automation.

  • Experience programming PLCs such as:- Allen-Bradley (Rockwell Automation)

    • Siemens
    • Omron
    • Mitsubishi
  • Experience with HMI platforms such as FactoryTalk View, WinCC, Ignition, or Wonderware.

  • Ability to read and create electrical schematics and control panel drawings.

  • Experience troubleshooting industrial electrical systems (24VDC, 120VAC, 480VAC).

  • Strong understanding of industrial automation and manufacturing processes.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with robotics integration (Fanuc, ABB, Yaskawa, KUKA, Universal Robots).
  • Knowledge of motion control systems and servo drives.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN.
  • SCADA development experience.
  • Experience in automotive, food & beverage, packaging, metals, or process manufacturing.
  • Project management experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
