Electrical Engineering Lead (Edge Andersen Equipment Solutions)

Position Summary

The Electrical Engineering Lead is responsible for leading electrical, automation, and controls engineering activities for Edge Andersen Equipment solutions. This role provides technical leadership for industrial electrical systems, PLCs, motion control, VFDs, CNC equipment, robotics, MES integration, and capital project execution. The Electrical Engineering Lead manages engineering resources, supports operational excellence initiatives, and drives continuous improvement through automation, technology advancement, and strategic project leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Management

  • Lead and mentor a team of electrical, controls, and automation engineers and technicians.
  • Establish engineering standards, best practices, and technical development plans.
  • Support performance management, employee development, and succession planning.
  • Partner with operations, maintenance, quality, IT, and manufacturing leadership to achieve business objectives.
  • Manage engineering priorities, resources, budgets, and project portfolios.

Electrical & Controls Engineering

  • Lead the design, implementation, troubleshooting, and optimization of industrial electrical and control systems.
  • Provide expertise in PLC programming and control system architecture using platforms such as Rockwell Automation, Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider Electric, and Omron.
  • Develop and maintain HMI and SCADA applications.
  • Design and support control panel systems, power distribution systems, and machine safety circuits.
  • Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, OSHA, and company safety requirements.

Motion Control & VFD Systems

  • Design and support servo-based motion control systems, coordinated motion applications, and multi-axis machine controls.
  • Configure, commission, and troubleshoot Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) for manufacturing equipment and process systems.
  • Optimize machine performance, throughput, positioning accuracy, and reliability through advanced motion control solutions.
  • Support networked drive systems and industrial communication protocols.

CNC & Robotics

  • Provide technical leadership for CNC machining centers, automated manufacturing cells, and robotic systems.
  • Support CNC machine controls, programming interfaces, troubleshooting, and reliability improvements.
  • Integrate robotics systems into manufacturing processes, including robotic handling, assembly, welding, palletizing, and material movement applications.
  • Collaborate with production teams to improve automation efficiency and equipment utilization.

Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)

  • Lead MES implementation and support activities to improve production visibility, traceability, quality, and performance monitoring.
  • Integrate PLC, CNC, robotics, and automation systems with MES, ERP, and plant information systems.
  • Support Industry 4.0 initiatives, data collection strategies, and manufacturing analytics.
  • Develop dashboards and reporting tools to enhance operational decision-making.

Project Management

  • Lead capital, automation, and continuous improvement projects from concept through commissioning.
  • Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
  • Manage equipment vendors, system integrators, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Oversee Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), startup, and commissioning activities.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget.

Continuous Improvement & Reliability

  • Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing efficiency, equipment reliability, quality, and safety.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for complex equipment failures.
  • Support predictive maintenance and reliability-centered maintenance programs.
  • Drive standardization and modernization of controls and automation platforms.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Automation Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 8+ years of industrial electrical engineering and automation experience.
  • 3+ years of engineering leadership, supervisory, or project management experience.
  • Strong experience with PLC programming, troubleshooting, and system integration.
  • Hands-on experience with motion control systems, servo drives, and coordinated machine control.
  • Experience with VFD configuration, startup, and optimization.
  • Experience supporting CNC equipment and manufacturing automation systems.
  • Experience implementing and supporting robotic systems in manufacturing environments.
  • Experience integrating MES and production information systems.
  • Demonstrated success managing capital projects and cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • PMP certification or equivalent project management experience.
  • Experience with Rockwell FactoryTalk, Siemens TIA Portal, Ignition, Wonderware, or similar automation platforms.
  • Experience with FANUC, ABB, KUKA, Universal Robots, Yaskawa, or other industrial robotics platforms.
  • Knowledge of Industrial IoT (IIoT), Industry 4.0, and digital manufacturing technologies.
  • Experience in high-volume manufacturing, machining, converting, packaging, consumer goods, aerospace, automotive, or medical device industries.

PROFIT SHARING: In 2026 Andersen has set a profit-sharing target of $3,600 per eligible employee, prorated as appropriate. Profit Sharing will be paid out in quarterly installments to provide eligible employees with payments throughout the year, with payment amounts tied to quarterly operating profit performance.
