Job description

WHO WE ARE
At Basis, we empower agencies and brands with cutting-edge software that automates digital media operations. Our all-in-one platform supports seamless planning, reporting, and financial reconciliation across direct, programmatic, search, and social media.
We're not just building advanced technology; we're also building a culture where passionate, motivated individuals come together to drive meaningful change. Our commitment to inclusivity and growth ensures our employees thrive both professionally and personally.
With our headquarters in Chicago, we offer flexible work options across the U.S. and Canada, including remote, hybrid, or on-site at headquarters.
ABOUT THE TEAM
Our Brand & Design team is a group of creatives who shape how Basis shows up in the world through compelling marketing content - across product, marketing, campaigns, events, our website, and beyond.
WAYS YOU'LL CONTRIBUTE
This role owns how Basis moves across animation, video, and product UI. Working alongside a team of lead brand designers, you're the dedicated motion resource: translating complex ideas into powerful visual stories that are distinctly Basis and building a motion language that travels across every format and surface.
You take concepts, storyboards, and visual directions and translate them into polished output: long-form product videos, animated campaign assets, website animations, and fast-turnaround social content. You pick up visual intent quickly, execute with craft and precision, know when to ask questions and when to just run. You'll collaborate cross-functionally and closely with project stakeholders, brand, product, and growth teams to keep the brand ecosystem connected.
You will also contribute by:
  • Producing product demos, instructional videos, campaign videos, and social cuts that simplify complex SaaS workflows through motion graphics and clear visual storytelling - crafted to feel native to each platform without losing brand integrity

  • Designing UI and product animations for web, including micro-interactions, transitions, and storytelling moments -- Figma & Lottie experience is desired.

  • Jumping into storyboards and visual explorations early, bringing a motion perspective and flagging what will and won't translate well to animation

  • Partnering with internal teams to align creative output with both marketing goals and client needs across campaigns, product launches, and web experiences

  • Helping build and uphold Basis' motion standards, contributing to consistency across deliverables without defining them unilaterally

  • Owning your project workload and timelines, communicating clearly on progress and priorities

  • Staying sharp on motion trends, bringing curiosity and hands-on experimentation with AI-first tools, and emerging best practices

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
  • 5+ years in motion design, animation, or video production, ideally in tech or SaaS - portfolio required

  • A strong online portfolio showing motion work across multiple formats

  • Expert in After Effects and Premiere Pro; fluent in Illustrator and Photoshop

  • Deep understanding of motion principles, pacing, and visual storytelling - you make intentional choices, not just pretty ones

  • Familiarity with front-end web technologies and integrating motion into live environments

  • Able to break down complex SaaS products into clear, engaging motion

  • Proven experience creating Lottie animations optimized for web performance

  • Experience documenting workflows and training others on tools and best practices

  • Comfortable in creative conversations from brief to delivery - you ask the right questions, know when to lead and when to support, handle feedback well, and manage multiple projects independently

  • Strong collaborator who communicates clearly, presents work with confidence, and partners well across teams - with the craft to do it beautifully and the agility to move fast.

  • Comfortable working on-site for choice projects with video (some travel ~5% for seasonal events)

BONUS POINTS
  • Open to operating a camera and mic to capture interviews or talking heads at events

  • Experience with Cinema 4D, Blender; curiosity with Maxon Autograph and Cavalry

  • An ear for music and sound design

  • Up to date on social platform trends and formats

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

$72,415 - $100,000 a year
This salary range reflects a typical compensation range for the role and level in most U.S. locations. Final compensation offered will depend on your location, experience, and skills. Total compensation may also include bonuses, equity, and competitive benefits.
