Morningstar has been developing and acquiring state-of-the-art storage and marina facilities since 1981, now with more than 100 storage properties and marinas throughout the US, we are adding this exceptional community in the heart of South End!

Who We’re Looking For:

A full-time Maintenance Technician for our Charlotte Multi Family Community: a people-person and team player who loves to fix, repair, and improve. We’re looking for an energetic, handy “keeper of the castle” who thrives in a non-desk job and whose motto is “it’s handled.”

What You’ll Do:

  • Create an exceptional environment for our residents.
  • Take pride in the physical appearance, building and grounds of the property, including but not limited to landscaping, sweeping, mopping, cleaning bathrooms, cleaning debris and items throughout the property.
  • Ensure proper functioning and upkeep of the property through regular maintenance tasks, including but not limited to HVAC upkeep and maintenance, electrical repairs, painting, carpentry repairs, plumbing repairs, roofing repairs and elevator preventative maintenance. 
  • Find the best methods to solve problems and enjoy knocking out a checklist.
  • Extremely comfortable interacting with our residents on a regular basis.
  • Maintenance duties that may include but not limited to:
    • Painting
    • Cleaning
    • Interior/exterior maintenance
    • Care of the outside of the building including roof repairs and leaf removal
    • Electrical, plumbing and HVAC work
    • Complete “turnover” of vacant apartments and rooms
    • Appliance evaluation and repair
    • Other carpentry/aesthetic work as needed
  • Complete all resident and site work orders.
  • Schedule and oversee third-party trade partners, ensuring the safety, quality, and cleanliness of work performed.
  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities and equipment to ensure proper operation

What You Need:

  • Curiosity & creativity.
  • Independent, self-driven, and engaging.
  • 3+ years of residential maintenance experience working in a position maintaining large buildings including plumbing, mechanical, electrical, elevators, and HVAC
  • Past maintenance and janitorial experience.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule and be on call.
  • High School diploma or GED.  Degree from a vocational school is a plus: professional certifications (CMRP, EPA/Universal, HVAC certified, etc.) are preferred

Physical Demands Required:

  • Ability to move freely throughout the property multiple times a day.
  • Ability to climb up a ladder.
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds.
