JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Transportation Manager, the Transportation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating daily transportation operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective movement of goods. This role includes managing a team of drivers and transportation staff, optimizing delivery routes, and ensuring adherence to safety regulations and company policies.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Team Supervision:
  • Lead and manage a team of drivers and transportation personnel.
  • Provide effective leadership, coaching, and development opportunities to enhance team performance.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and safety standards.

Route Planning and Optimization:
  • Plan and optimize transportation routes to ensure timely deliveries while minimizing costs.
  • Monitor daily operations to identify opportunities for improvement in route efficiency and driver performance.
  • Allocate resources effectively to meet operational demands.
  • Step in to assist with delivery driving as needed to provide additional support.

Compliance and Safety:
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations, including DOT requirements, in all transportation activities.
  • Monitor driver compliance with safety protocols, hours of service, and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct safety training and implement initiatives to reduce accidents and injuries.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of vehicle inspections, driver logs, and other compliance-related documentation.

Fleet Management:
  • Oversee the maintenance and operation of the company's fleet of vehicles.
  • Ensure vehicles are regularly serviced and maintained to meet operational needs.
  • Track vehicle usage, fuel consumption, and other key performance indicators.
  • Coordinate repairs, servicing, and inspections with the maintenance team.

Customer Service:
  • Monitor delivery performance to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Address and resolve transportation-related customer issues and complaints.
  • Collaborate closely with customer service and operations teams to resolve transportation-related concerns.

Budgeting and Cost Control:
  • Assist in preparing and managing transportation budgets.
  • Monitor and control transportation expenses, including fuel, labor, and maintenance costs.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings while maintaining service quality.

Reporting and Analysis:
  • Prepare and submit regular performance reports on transportation metrics, such as delivery times, cost per mile, fuel usage, and safety performance.
  • Analyze data to identify trends and recommend improvements for operational efficiency.
  • Provide insights and updates to senior management on transportation operations.

Problem Resolution:
  • Serve as the primary contact for resolving transportation-related issues or emergencies.
  • Address unexpected challenges, such as delays, accidents, or logistical disruptions, in a timely and effective manner.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must have the ability to repetitively lift, pull and push 50 or more pounds, reach above head height, stand, walk, kneel, bend and reach

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • High School diploma or GED preferred
  • 1-3 years of warehouse experience is a plus
  • 1-3 years of prior leadership experience required
  • 1-3 years of experience with Routing, ERP, or WMS systems required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word preferred
  • Hold a valid and current Class A or B driver's license in the State of Texas and ensure reliable, insured transportation is maintained.
  • Driving record must be within MVR policy guidelines throughout employment.
  • Must be able to pass a background and drug screening for hire and randomly throughout employment.
  • Strong time management, customer service, and communication skills. Proficiency in using GPS systems and operating multiple mobile device platforms.
  • This role requires flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed. Each employee is assigned a regular start time on their first day, which remains in effect unless the role or schedule changes due to business need. When possible, schedule changes will be communicated at least one week in advance. Employees are expected to stay until all assigned duties are completed.
