Baylor College of Medicine and Department Summary:

The Section of General Internal Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine is dedicated to excellence in patient care, education, scholarly activities, and community engagement. As general internists, we apply scientific knowledge, clinical expertise and compassion to prevention, screening, diagnosis, and treatment of adult patients with a broad spectrum of medical conditions. We care for diverse patients in primary care outpatient settings as well as hospitalized patients. Our collaborative interdisciplinary teams practice at Baylor Medicine Clinic, Baylor St. Luke's CHI Hospitals (Medical Center, Sugarland, Vintage, Woodlands), Harris Health System (Ben Taub Hospital and Smith Clinic) and Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

The Margaret M. and Albert B. Alkek Department of Medicine is the largest adult practice department at Baylor College of Medicine. Founded in 1953, we are one of the largest education programs in the United States with more than 700 trainees, and highly competitive specialty fellowship training programs, including seven federally funded research training grants. Our healthcare providers see hundreds of thousands of patients in seven inpatient and outpatient facilities and our department's clinical excellence is recognized in U.S. News and World Report. Our departmental research initiatives span the continuum of biomedical research from basic to clinical, attracting $79.5 million in total extramural funding, including more than $62 million from the NIH as well as other federal sources.

Summary

The Section of General Internal Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a Hospitalist to provide Per Diem services at Ben Taub Hospital and the Harris Health System in the Houston area. The ideal candidates are patient-centered and committed to excellence in providing quality care in an inpatient setting.  Candidates must be board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine and be willing to commit to working 7 shifts (7am - 7pm) per academic year.

Job Duties

Positions are clinical with direct inpatient care. 7 on 7 off block schedule, compensation is based on current moonlighting rates and staffed as needed. Malpractice insurance provided and position includes a Baylor College of Medicine faculty appointment - rank commensurate with experience and qualifications.
