Job description

The Janitor cleans and keeps in an orderly condition: offices, working areas and washrooms in an industrial complex or facility. Duties involve a combination of the following: sweeping, vacuuming, mopping or scrubbing, and polishing floors; removing trash, and other refuse; dusting equipment, furniture, or fixtures; polishing metal fixtures or trimmings; providing supplies and minor maintenance services; and cleaning lavatories, showers, and restrooms. All duties must be performed within the specified safety regulations of the company and the position. May perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
This position is physically demanding and requires physical dexterity. While the environment is generally hazard free it does include exposure to dirt, dust, detergents and commercial strength cleaning products generally of a non-hazardous nature. However, there is possible exposure to bodily fluids and unpleasant odors. Thus the position requires Hepatitis B series shots. Some job tasks require access to laboratory areas and require specific safety procedures to be followed. This job requires prolonged standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, pushing, pulling and the like, as well as the ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
Required Job Qualifications:
  • HS Diploma or Equivalent
  • Security Clearance (or ability to obtain upon hire)
  • Three to five years of janitorial experience in an industrial setting
