Job Title: Molding Tooling Engineer
Location: Libertyville, IL

Job Description:

Theย Molding Tooling Engineerย will design, develop, validate, and optimize molds and tooling used in manufacturing processes. The role involves supporting new product development, improving tooling performance, troubleshooting production issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure quality, efficiency, and manufacturability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop molds, tooling, jigs, and fixtures based on product requirements.
  • Perform Design for Manufacturability (DFM) evaluations and recommend design improvements.
  • Validate mold designs and support tooling qualification activities.
  • Troubleshoot tooling and molding-related issues and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support mold sampling, qualification, validation, and production readiness.
  • Collaborate with design, manufacturing, quality, and production teams throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Implement cost-effective tooling design changes to improve quality and productivity.
  • Prepare and maintain tooling documentation, engineering records, and project status updates.
  • Coordinate mold repair, maintenance, and design modifications with the tooling team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Tool Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in tooling, mold design, injection molding, or manufacturing engineering.
  • Strong experience with injection molding processes, mold design, tooling validation, and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of hot runner systems, thermoplastics, thermosets, and mold flow principles.
  • Proficiency withย PTC Creo (Pro/ENGINEER)ย andย Windchill; SolidWorks experience is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of injection molding machine operations is preferred.
  • Experience with engineering documentation and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
