Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled, Senior LabWare LIMS Subject Matter Expert to support our ongoing LIMS replacement project in Laurel, Maryland, Onsite.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our internal LIMS Administration, IT, and laboratory teams alongside vendor partners to configure, customize, and successfully deploy the system into our production environment. The primary focus of this role is the hands-on implementation and tailoring of LabWare s industry-specific templates the Contract Lab Template (CLT) and the Enterprise Water Component Template (EWT) to match our water/wastewater operational workflows, quality control standards, and regulatory compliance mandates.
Responsibilities:

  • System Configuration & Customization: Design, configure, and implement LabWare LIMS modules aligned with water and wastewater laboratory operational workflows.
  • Template Deployment: Lead the hands-on configuration, customization, and deployment of the Contract Lab Template (CLT) and Enterprise Water Component Template (EWT).
  • Instrument & System Integration: Establish seamless integration between physical laboratory instrumentation and LabWare LIMS using LabStation or middleware to automate data capture.
  • Report & Dashboard Development: Design, build, and maintain complex analytical reports, dashboards, and data visualization tools for laboratory stakeholders.
  • Quality & Compliance Alignment: Configure quality management, stability, and control charting components to ensure adherence to strict water/wastewater industry regulatory standards.
  • Testing & Troubleshooting: Conduct thorough unit testing, support User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and resolve technical issues during development and go-live phases.
  • Knowledge Transfer: Provide comprehensive documentation and technical handovers to the internal LIMS administration and IT teams to ensure long-term system maintainability.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor s or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or a closely related scientific/technical discipline.
  • General LIMS Experience: At least 5 years of hands-on experience configuring, customizing, and administering LabWare LIMS in a regulated laboratory environment.
  • Template Integration: Demonstrated experience with the successful configuration and deployment of the LabWare Contract Lab Template (CLT) and Enterprise Water Component Template (EWT).
  • LabWare LIMS v8: Extensive experience with the full life-cycle implementation of LabWare LIMS v8, spanning from initial requirements gathering to final production deployment and post-go-live support.
  • LIMS Basic Programming: Advanced proficiency in writing and troubleshooting LIMS Basic code for custom workflows, parsing, and complex calculations.
  • Instrument Integration: Hands-on experience using LabWare's LabStation (or similar middleware) to connect laboratory instruments.
  • Crystal Reports: Advanced capability in developing and modifying complex reports using Crystal Reports.
  • Core Modules Proficiency: Solid experience in configuring automated sample scheduling, control charting within CLT/EWT, and the Standard and Reagent Inventory Manager module.
  • Data Deliverables: Experience designing and implementing Electronic Data Deliverables (EDD) formats for seamless data import/export with external clients and regulatory agencies.

Preferred Skills:

  • Certifications: Official LabWare LIMS administration or configuration certifications are highly preferred.
  • Industry Domain Expertise: Direct experience working within a water or wastewater laboratory environment is highly preferred.
  • Quality Management: Familiarity with integrating or configuring Electronic Quality Management System (eQMS) modules within LabWare.
  • Mobile Optimization: Experience configuring and optimizing LabWare LIMS for mobile devices and tablets to support on-the-go laboratory tasks.
