Job description

Job Summary The City of Gahanna is seeking a qualified Transportation & Mobility Engineer to lead and manage transportation-focused capital improvement projects that support safe, accessible, and efficient travel throughout the community. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, this position provides professional engineering expertise across roadway, pedestrian and bicycle facilities, traffic signal systems, and ADA compliance initiatives. This role serves as project manager for basic to complex transportation projects from planning through construction, supports traffic engineering and private development review, and acts as the City's ADA Coordinator.

The position may also serve as City Engineer in their absence. The ideal candidate is a licensed Professional Engineer with strong municipal project management experience, traffic engineering knowledge, and a commitment to public service and collaborative problem-solving. Starting Salary Range: The starting salary is between the minimum and midpoint of the range ($89,606 annually - $109,761 annually).

Candidates will start at the minimum of the range unless their skills, experience, education or other factors exceed the qualifications for the position. Minimum Qualifications Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

A typical way to qualify is a Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Civil Engineering or a related field and four (4) or more years of progressively responsible experience in a related engineering role that would demonstrate effectiveness in leading engineering projects and provide technical expertise and minimum of two years of project management experience in federal, state, or local government administration; Proven experience and knowledge of: Traffic engineering principles, practices, concepts, procedures, and methods Complete Streets design and execution ADA transition plan development and implementation State and federal guidelines, principles and practices related to uniform traffic control devices Traffic signal system operations (timing & coordination), warrant analysis and design Traffic impact Studies TIS scoping and evaluation Licensure or Certification Requirements Licensed Professional Engineer within the state of Ohio Professional Traffic Operations Engineer, PTOE, desired Current and valid Ohio driver's license with an acceptable driver's abstract to meet criteria for insurability established by the City of Gahanna Why Gahanna.
