About the Role
Advantage Capital is seeking an experienced Land Acquisition Agent to support the development of utility-scale solar and battery energy storage projects throughout the Midwest. This individual will play a critical role in identifying, securing, and managing land rights necessary for project development while building long-term relationships with landowners and local stakeholders.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a proven ability to work independently, negotiate complex agreements, and successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of renewable energy land acquisition.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Identify, evaluate, and secure land opportunities for utility-scale solar and battery energy storage projects.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with landowners, brokers, attorneys, surveyors, title companies, and other key stakeholders.
• Conduct property ownership research, title review, and due diligence to support project development.
• Draft, negotiate, and execute option agreements, leases, easements, amendments, and other real estate agreements related to renewable energy development.
• Coordinate with internal development, legal, engineering, and project management teams throughout the acquisition process.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining accurate records, timelines, and reporting.
• Travel throughout the Midwest to meet with landowners, attend community meetings, and conduct site visits as needed.
• Monitor project milestones and proactively resolve land-related issues that could impact project schedules.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of local market conditions, permitting requirements, and renewable energy industry trends.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum 5 years of experience in land acquisition for renewable energy projects, with a demonstrated history of successfully securing land rights.
• Experience supporting solar and/or battery energy storage (BESS) development projects.
• Strong knowledge of land acquisition processes, title research, easements, leases, and real estate transactions.
• Proven ability to build trust and maintain positive relationships with landowners and community stakeholders.
• Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating renewable energy land agreements.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple active projects and deadlines.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively across cross-functional teams.
• Willingness to travel throughout the Midwest as project needs require.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience with utility-scale renewable energy development.
• Familiarity with GIS mapping tools, title software, or county land record systems.
• Knowledge of state and local permitting requirements related to renewable energy projects.
• Existing network of Midwest landowners, brokers, or industry contacts is a plus.
