What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Mobile Software Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Mobile Software Developer, you need strong programming skills (such as Java, Kotlin, Swift, or Objective-C), a solid understanding of mobile platforms, and a relevant degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with integrated development environments (IDEs) like Android Studio or Xcode, version control systems like Git, and relevant certifications (such as Google Associate Android Developer) are typically required. Creative problem-solving, attention to detail, and effective communication help developers collaborate in teams and deliver user-friendly apps. These skills ensure efficient development of high-quality mobile applications that meet user needs and adapt to evolving technology.

What does a Mobile Software Developer do?

A Mobile Software Developer designs, builds, tests, and maintains applications specifically for mobile devices like smartphones and tablets. They typically work with platforms such as iOS (using Swift or Objective-C) or Android (using Java or Kotlin). Their responsibilities include writing clean, efficient code, troubleshooting bugs, collaborating with designers and other developers, and ensuring apps perform well across different devices. Mobile developers must also stay updated with the latest platform changes and best practices to deliver high-quality user experiences.

Job description

Join the Team Behind the World's Leading Class Management Software!
Are you a technical leader who thrives on building high-performing teams and delivering impactful software in a fast-paced environment? We're looking for an Developer Manager to lead a talented, cohesive development team delivering across multiple active projects simultaneously. This is a people-first leadership role with real technical weight behind it.
You'll own team performance, code quality, and engineering execution.
What You Will Do
Manage Your Team
  • Own individual and group performance - setting expectations, running 1:1s, identifying growth opportunities, and holding the bar high
  • Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Recruit, onboard, and develop engineers at multiple levels

Manage the Code
  • Serve as the technical authority for your team - engaged in architecture decisions, design reviews, and technical tradeoffs across a modern stack including Laravel, React, Angular, and Mobile (iOS/Android)
  • Establish and uphold coding standards, review processes, and quality benchmarks
  • Be the person your engineers bring hard technical problems to - not to solve them, but to help frame them, pressure-test solutions, and make sound decisions

Manage the Delivery
  • Partner closely with the Project Manager on sprint planning, backlog grooming, and delivery tracking - providing the engineering perspective on capacity, complexity, and technical dependencies
  • Own engineering-side commitments: ensure your team's estimates are grounded, priorities are understood, and sprint goals are achievable
  • Serve as the engineering voice in cross-functional conversations as features move through product, design, development, and deployment

What You Bring
  • Minimum 7 years' experience in software development
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in team leadership
  • Deep familiarity with one or more of: Laravel, React, Angular, iOS, Android - enough to evaluate technical decisions, ask the right questions, and earn the trust of the engineers you lead
  • Experience working alongside a Project Manager or in a structured agile environment - you understand the process without needing to own it
  • Ability to translate technical complexity for non-technical stakeholders and vice versa
  • A coaching mindset: you measure your success by your team's output, not your own

What We Bring
We believe in taking care of our people.
  • Generous PTO because work-life balance matters
  • Comprehensive health benefits including medical, dental, vision, and more!
  • 401(k) match to help you plan for your future
  • Fun company events that connect our team
  • Career growth opportunities in a thriving, purpose-driven company
