Location: Topeka, Ks.
Job Type: Full Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt.
Department: Service.
Supervisor: Service Manager.
Job Overview:
The Mobile Service Technician is responsible for providing on-site maintenance and repair services for heavy-duty trucks and trailers. This role requires a self-motivated, safety-conscious individual who can work independently while delivering professional and timely service to our customers in the field. The Mobile Technician acts as a brand ambassador, ensuring customer satisfaction by providing expert diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and perform repairs on a variety of systems including engines, transmissions, brakes, HVAC, electrical, and aftertreatment systems (DEF/DPF).
  • Operate a fully equipped service truck and travel to customer sites to complete service calls, emergency repairs, and scheduled maintenance.
  • Communicate clearly with customers regarding needed repairs, estimated time of completion, and maintenance recommendations.
  • Accurately complete all required documentation including service work orders, inspection reports, and parts requisitions.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized mobile service truck and adhere to all safety protocols and company policies.
  • Use OEM diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot issues and perform calibrations or software updates.
  • Collaborate with the dealership's service and parts departments to coordinate parts availability and ensure efficient job completion.

  • Participate in ongoing technical training and stay current with manufacturer updates, recalls, and service bulletins.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical school or OEM certifications preferred. Minimum 2 years of experience in diesel or heavy-duty truck repair (mobile service experience a plus).
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; CDL preferred or ability to obtain.
  • Proficiency in interpreting technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and diagnostic tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in the field.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in various weather conditions.
  • Comfortable working in a shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
Working Conditions:
  • This is a mobile field position. Technicians must be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and may be required to respond to emergency breakdowns.
