SUMMARY
The Mobile Diesel Service Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing all mobile service operations, ensuring efficient delivery of on-site maintenance and repair services for customer equipment. This role manages mobile diesel technicians, coordinates scheduling and dispatch, maintains safety and compliance standards, and drives customer satisfaction while supporting company profitability and operational goals.
The Mobile Diesel Service Manager serves as the primary leader for field service operations, ensuring timely repairs, high-quality workmanship, and strong communication between customers, technicians, parts, and service departments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Manage daily operations of the mobile diesel service department including scheduling, dispatching, and prioritizing service calls to maximize technician productivity and response time.
Supervise, coach, and develop mobile diesel technicians to ensure adherence to company standards, safety procedures, and quality expectations. Conduct performance evaluations, provide training support, and promote continuous technical growth.
Ensure all mobile service repairs, preventive maintenance, and diagnostics are completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with manufacturer and company guidelines.
Serve as the primary point of contact for mobile service customers, addressing service concerns, managing expectations, and maintaining strong customer relationships.
Monitor work order accuracy, labor efficiency, recovery rates, and billing practices to ensure profitability and proper documentation.
Coordinate closely with Parts, Service Advisors, Leasing, and Operations teams to ensure technicians have proper tools, parts availability, and service information.
Maintain compliance with DOT regulations, environmental standards, and company safety policies. Promote a strong safety culture for all field operations.
Oversee mobile service vehicle maintenance, tooling, inventory control, and equipment readiness.
Review department performance metrics and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, revenue growth, and customer uptime.
Support recruiting, onboarding, and retention efforts for mobile diesel technicians.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or diesel technology education preferred.
Minimum 5 years of diesel service experience with demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
Minimum 3 years experience in a diesel service manager role or foremen managing field service or mobile repair operations is highly preferred.
Strong understanding of heavy-duty truck systems including engines, aftertreatment systems, electrical diagnostics, and preventive maintenance practices.
Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred but not required.
