Job description

Description: The Mobile RV Technician's focus is on efficient and timely on-site repairs at customer locations to increase customer enthusiasm and service proficiency. This role involves traveling to campgrounds, homes, storage facilities, and other sites to diagnose and repair RVs directly, using a fully equipped mobile service vehicle.

Responsibilities: Diagnosing, quoting, and documenting customer concerns on-site. Ensuring quality, efficient diagnostics and repair in mobile environments.
Functions: Essential duties and responsibilities include the following - other duties may be assigned.
  • Perform inspections and preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment at customer locations.
  • Prepare and maintain records and reports, including digital documentation via mobile devices or dealership systems.
  • Expertly diagnose issues based on experience, analysis, and testing after discussing with clients and examining the RV to determine the nature of the problem.
  • Present job cost estimates and parts replacement needs/suggestions directly to customers.
  • Troubleshoot pneumatic, hydraulic, electromechanical, and electronic problems and perform necessary adjustment, repair, or overhaul using mobile tools and equipment.
  • Complete repairs to water and sewage plumbing, propane gas lines, and electrical wiring as needed, while adhering to safety protocols in varied field conditions.
  • Attend all meetings, trainings, and educational classes, as required.
  • Help educate/train new staff members, including sharing mobile service best practices.
  • Document all possible warranty repairs and quote labor requirements accurately for billing.
  • Participate in the organization and cleanliness of the mobile service vehicle, tools, and work areas.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through efficient and timely on-site inspections and repairs, with strong communication and professionalism.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Qualifications/Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are relevant to the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Considerable knowledge of:
  • RVIA Registered Status
  • Well-versed in all maintenance and repairs
  • Must have advanced diagnostic and repair skills

Working knowledge of:
  • IDS dealership DMS system
  • RVDA & RVTI best practices and Industry standards

Skill sets:
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service-oriented (critical for direct customer interactions in the field)
  • Past trades experience
  • Use of power and hand tools
  • Use of diagnostic equipment

Ability to:
  • Work varying shifts, weekends, and holidays
  • Follow written and verbal instructions
  • Travel within the service area (primarily local/regional, with potential for occasional longer trips)
  • Work independently with minimal supervision in mobile settings
  • Must have own tools appropriate to skill level (plus mobile service-specific tools/equipment provided or supplemented)

Education & Individual Requirements:
  • Minimum 2 years of RV repair experience (mobile service experience preferred)
  • High School Diploma or the equivalent
  • Trades certified electrical, plumbing, welding, HVAC
  • Professional references
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean, insurable driving record (CDL a plus but not required)
  • Pre-employment background check, including drug screening

Physical Requirements: While performing duties in this position, the Mobile RV Technician is regularly required to stand, walk, climb, kneel, and work in confined spaces for long periods of time, often outdoors and in varying weather conditions. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to lift and carry tools/parts up to 50 lbs and load/unload service vehicle as needed.
