Location: Scottsville & Rochester, NY
Pay: $38-47/hour (DOE)
Position Summary
Livingston Development Ventures is seeking a skilled Mobile Mechanic to provide on-site maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs for commercial vehicles and heavy construction equipment throughout the Rochester region. This position is ideal for an experienced technician who enjoys working independently, solving problems in the field, and helping clients minimize equipment downtime.
The Mobile Mechanic will travel to client locations in a fully equipped service vehicle to perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical issues, and complete repairs safely and efficiently.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative maintenance on commercial vehicles and heavy construction equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, fuel, cooling, brake, steering, and drivetrain issues.
  • Complete engine oil, hydraulic oil, coolant, transmission, differential, and gear oil services.
  • Repair and replace brakes, suspension components, wheel bearings, belts, hoses, batteries, alternators, starters, lighting, and other mechanical components.
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic systems and perform minor hydraulic repairs.
  • Inspect equipment for safety concerns and recommend repairs before failures occur.
  • Perform annual coolant freeze point testing and preventative inspections.
  • Check tire condition and pressures.
  • Inspect exhaust systems, air filters, brake systems, HVAC systems, steering components, suspension, and chassis.
  • Maintain accurate service records and inspection reports.
  • Communicate equipment conditions and repair recommendations with clients and the Service Manager
  • Maintain inventory and organization of the mobile service truck.
  • Respond to field service calls in a professional and timely manner.
  • Follow OSHA and company safety procedures at all times.
  • Maintain a clean and professional appearance while representing Livingston Development Ventures at client job sites.

Qualifications
Required
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience repairing commercial vehicles, diesel engines, and heavy equipment.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must provide own hand tools.
  • Ability to safely operate a company service truck.

Preferred
  • CDL (Class A or B).
  • NYS Inspector License.
  • ASE Certifications.
  • Diesel engine certifications.
  • Hydraulic repair experience.
  • Welding and fabrication experience.
  • Experience servicing CAT, John Deere, Komatsu, Volvo, Bobcat, JLG, Genie, Ford, Chevrolet, RAM, International, Peterbilt, Kenworth, Freightliner, or similar equipment.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple service calls while maintaining quality workmanship.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Self-motivated with excellent time management.
  • Ability to work independently in the field with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with mobile work order software or tablet-based service systems.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and professionalism.
  • Flexibility to work overtime and respond to urgent repair needs as required.
