Head of Mobile

Job description

About Neon
Many large companies make billions each year by monetizing Americans' personal data. At Neon, we're finally cutting consumers in on the deal. Neon allows our users to make hundreds (or even thousands) of dollars per year by securely selling their anonymized data. We recently raised $25 million dollars from Lightspeed, Upper90, Upfront Ventures, and other cool investors.
About the role
You aren't just here to manage a roadmap; you are here to own the product that sits in the hands of our 500,000+ users. This is a builder's role. You will be writing code, making the big architectural decisions, and solving hard engineering problems, specifically around VoIP and telephony.
We need someone who can balance the chaos of a startup with the stability required for a consumer app. You'll be integrating real-time communication tools, jumping into the backend when needed, and ensuring the app works flawlessly whether a user is in New York or halfway across the world. If you want to ship fast, break through technical walls, and see your work impact millions of users across the globe, this is the job for you.
You have...
Authorization to work in the US.
VoIP knowledge. You know how hard voice communications are. You've implemented VoIP, SIP, or WebRTC in a real product and know how to handle the messy reality of call quality and carrier constraints.
Deep mobile experience. You've spent 6+ years actually building and releasing mobile apps on iOS and Android, and have significant experience with cross-platform apps and React Native.
Building natively. You have significant expertise with Swift, Kotlin, Java, or Objective-C.
Pragmatic speed. You actively avoid over-engineering. You focus on delivering quick, effective solutions to immediate problems, by shipping a solid v1 today rather than waiting for a perfect v2 next month.
Full-stack flexibility. You don't stop at the UI and are comfortable digging into the backend APIs and services that power the mobile experience.
Ownership mentality. As demonstrated by your work quality and personal/open source projects.
Bonus points
International experience. You've built apps for non-US markets and know the pain of fragmentation, localization, and varying network conditions.
Startup experience. You've built mobile products in early-stage environments and thrive on ambiguity.
Telecom background. You've worked at a CPaaS or telecom company and understand the ins and outs of global communication.
