They use programming languages like C#, Java, or Swift along with game engines like Unity or Unreal Engine. Their work also includes optimizing games for performance on various devices and implementing features like in-app purchases or social integration.

What are some common challenges Mobile Game Developers face when optimizing games for different devices?

Mobile Game Developers often encounter challenges in ensuring their games run smoothly across a wide variety of devices with different screen sizes, operating systems, and hardware capabilities. Rave

Portland, OR

Full-time

Job description

Company Description

If you have played any of the top 10 mobile games in the market, you probably used Rave. We build the platform (SDK + hosted service) used by game publishers to make their mobile games socially engaging with things like identity management, leaderboards, achievements, etc. While we sell to marketing teams, we are developers building for developers.

Here are some things you might appreciate about Rave:

  • We are bootstrapped so we don't have outside investor pressure or control
  • We are profitable so we are sustainable and not dependent on investors to pay the bills.
  • We serve over 100,000,000 users so we are making our own little dent in the universe.
  • We are small and nimble so you can have an impact and you don't have to deal with the overhead of working at a large organization.
  • We are growing into more games and now into other vertical markets too
  • We are generous with our employee stocks since we are employee-driven, not investor-driven.
Job Description

We are looking for an engineer to join the SDK team at Rave. You will work on extending our SDK architecture and develop features that help connect millions of app users for some of the world's largest brands.

What's in it for you:

  • You get to work on challenging technical problems. We are building out core features of our product and would look for you to take ownership of them
  • As a member of a startup and a small engineering team you will have the opportunity to make a difference with your contributions
  • Working in a high-growth part of the tech space, which guarantees a long line of new challenges
  • You will work with a dedicated group of people who you can learn from and who want to learn from you
  • Competitive compensation packages
  • Hard-working but socially-relaxed atmosphere
Qualifications
  • A track record of delivering. What have you shipped in the past year?
  • Mobile polyglot with an area of expertise. We work with iOS, Android and Unity for the mobile SDK with Web SDK in development too. You'll work with all of them, but should have a core strength in one.
  • Attention to detail. You find the corner cases and you make sure they are covered. With as many users as we have even a "corner case" can still impact thousands of people.
  • Experience building SDKs (not necessarily mobile).
  • Fire in the gut. We love people that go beyond the call to action and discover new opportunities to help each other and help our customers.
