Lap of Love is a national practice dedicated exclusively to in-home end-of-life care for pets. Our veterinarians help pets and their parents with quality of life assessments, pain and anxiety management, end-of-life consultations, and peaceful euthanasia in the comfort of their pet's favorite place - home.
Position Description
Lap of Love Veterinary Hospice, headquartered in Lutz, FL., seeks to add a key member to its growing team by employing a Jr. Mobile and Front End developer to join our Systems Administration team, an extension of the Innovation and Technology department. As the Jr. Mobile and Front End developer, this individual will be a member of a team that contributes to the development and maintenance of RESTful APIs, mobile apps, and front end UI for our internal tools and systems. They'll be working on a cross functional team tasked with integrating systems, building internal tools, and improving the day to day workflows that support the work that our Veterinarians perform in the field. This is a great opportunity for someone to come in and grow and learn while supporting a beautiful mission.
The ideal candidate will have a solid working knowledge of .NET 8, ASP.NET Core Web API, Entity Framework(EF8), React, React Native, and Expo. They should be comfortable working in an AWS environment. They will write high quality, testable code using detailed logging to observability tools like AWS Open Search, Cloud Watch, or Azure App Insights.
We work as a team here at Lap of Love. This person will be expected to work with a cross functional team consisting of development resources for the core Sunshine platform, our Cloud Administrator and Cloud Developer for all things DevOps, CI/CD, Terraform, and Cloud Provisioning along with project managers, product owners, and senior leadership. They should be comfortable translating business requirements into working code with minimal direct supervision.
In addition, Lap of Love is embracing AI tools. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of using Claude Code or similar tools while maintaining a human-in-the-loop workflow.
Requirements
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Assist with the architecture and development of API endpoints for our proprietary CRM platform, Sunshine
  • Assist with the front end development of internal tools and systems
  • Collaborate with the product owners and UX designers to plan and create a mobile app to be used by our Veterinarians to improve their workflow
  • Collaborate with the core Sunshine development team and assist with front end development tasks as needed
  • Creating documentation and serving as an escalation point for any front end or mobile app related issues that our support team cannot resolve themselves
  • Review workload monitoring and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Stay up to date on the latest in mobile app development for both iOS and Android devices

Experience, Education, and Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, system administration, or a related field required - may be substituted with relevant work experience and a demonstrated level of expertise.
  • 1-3 years of experience building mobile apps using React Native and Expo (or similar)
  • 1-3 years of experience supporting an enterprise scale web application
  • 1-3 years of experience working with CSS, HTML, and JavaScript
  • 1-3 years of experience working with React.js
  • 1-3 years of experience writing C# using .NET 8
  • 1-3 years of experience working with Entity Framework (EF8 or newer)
  • 1-3 years of experience working with Microsoft SQL Server
  • 1-3 years of experience working with ASP.NET Core Web API
  • 1-3 years of experience writing tests using Xunit and Moq
  • 1-3 years of experience developing in a multi-cloud environment (AWS and Azure)
  • Thorough understanding of RESTful API Development best practices
  • Working knowledge of Figma or similar tool.
  • Able to create wireframes and functional mockups for rapid iteration with the product team.
  • Comfortable using Claude Code to assist with development and iteration on work items while maintaining a human-in-the-loop workflow.

  • Able to work 40 hours per week during core hours (8am-5pm ET)
