Blue Origin is pioneering the future of space-based communications with TeraWave, a revolutionary satellite communications network designed to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps anywhere on Earth. This multi-orbit constellation will consist of optically interconnected satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO) and medium Earth orbit (MEO), providing enterprise-grade connectivity for critical operations worldwide.
We are seeking an RFIC Design Engineer to design and develop advanced integrated circuits for our revolutionary TeraWave satellite communications network. This role will be instrumental in creating the RF components that enable our constellation to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps globally. The ideal candidate brings expertise in RF circuit design, semiconductor technologies, and satellite communications, thriving in a fast-paced environment where innovation meets mission-critical execution.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Design and develop ASICs and RFICs that meet the stringent standards of satellite communication, ensuring high performance and efficiency
  • Create Q/V-band RF front-end components including LNAs, PAs, mixers, and filters for satellite applications
  • Implement advanced RF processing technologies that support satellite missions with reduced size, weight, and power (SWaP)
  • Develop high-frequency circuit designs for both LEO and MEO satellite platforms
  • Perform circuit simulations, layout, and verification of RF integrated circuits
  • Collaborate with system engineers to define RFIC specifications and requirements
  • Utilize data analytics to optimize ASIC performance and drive innovation in satellite communication
  • Design for radiation tolerance and reliability in the space environment
  • Support prototype testing, characterization, and qualification of RF components
  • Work with semiconductor foundries and packaging vendors to ensure manufacturability
  • Document design processes, test results, and performance characteristics
  • Troubleshoot and resolve design issues throughout the development cycle

Minimum Qualifications:
  • B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in RFIC/MMIC design for communications applications
  • Demonstrated expertise in RF circuit design techniques and methodologies
  • Experience with industry-standard EDA tools for RF design and simulation
  • Knowledge of semiconductor fabrication processes and design rules
  • Understanding of RF measurements and test methodologies
  • Experience with high-frequency designs (Ka-band and above)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with focus on RF/microwave design
  • Experience with Q/V-band circuit design for satellite communications
  • Knowledge of radiation effects on semiconductor devices
  • Experience with GaN, GaAs, SiGe, or other advanced semiconductor processes
  • Background in phased array systems or beamforming networks
  • Experience with power amplifier design and efficiency optimization techniques
  • Understanding of digital signal processing integration with RF components
  • Familiarity with space qualification requirements for electronic components

Base Pay Range for:
CA applicants is $192,051.00 - $268,870.35WA applicants is $192,051.00 - $268,870.35
