Job description

Position Overview
CT United Academy is seeking a dedicated and experienced Head Coach to lead the development and performance of one of our MLS NEXT teams. The Head Coach will be responsible for implementing the club's playing philosophy, managing player development, and ensuring a professional and competitive training environment. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and the ability to foster a positive team culture while preparing players for higher levels of competition.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee all aspects of the assigned academy team's training, match preparation, and performance.
  • Implement CT United Academy's playing philosophy, training methodology, and developmental objectives.
  • Develop and execute structured, age-appropriate training sessions aligned with MLS NEXT standards.
  • Work closely with the Academy Director and technical staff to evaluate and develop players.
  • Foster a high-performance culture, ensuring an environment of discipline, respect, and professionalism.
  • Utilize video analysis and data to enhance player performance and development.
  • Communicate regularly with players, parents, and staff regarding progress, expectations, and development plans.
  • Identify and recruit top talent in alignment with the club's scouting and recruitment strategies.
  • Represent CT United Academy professionally in all MLS NEXT events, tournaments, and showcases.

Qualifications
  • Minimum USSF B License (or equivalent) required.
  • Minimum 5 years of coaching experience at the elite youth collegiate, or professional level.
  • Strong understanding of player development within an academy structure.
  • Experience in developing and managing high-performance environments.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with technical staff, players, and families.
  • Familiarity with MLS NEXT rules, competition structures, and best practices.
  • Experience in talent identification and recruitment is preferred.
  • Proficiency in video analysis and performance tracking tools is a plus.
