We are seeking a detail-oriented, professional, and mission-driven In-House Counsel to join our team. This role will provide legal guidance on healthcare compliance, contracts, risk management, corporate governance, and regulatory matters. The ideal candidate is a strong legal writer, clear communicator, and practical problem solver who can support legal needs in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Position Summary

The In-House Counsel will support complex legal matters involving healthcare regulations, commercial and real estate contracts, corporate transactions, risk management, and organizational compliance. This position will work closely with executive leadership, clinical teams, operations, and outside counsel to help ensure TFHC’s business practices align with legal requirements while supporting the organization’s mission and long-term goals.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Support organizational compliance with federal and state healthcare regulations, including Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, HIPAA, and Medicare/Medicaid billing requirements.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate provider employment agreements, vendor contracts, service agreements, data-sharing agreements, managed care payor agreements, and other business-related contracts.
  • Advise leadership on corporate bylaws, risk management, facility acquisitions, joint ventures, and other organizational matters.
  • Assist clinical and operational teams with patient care legal matters, informed consent, credentialing-related issues, and compliance questions.
  • Coordinate with external counsel on specialized litigation, regulatory investigations, or complex legal matters as needed.
  • Review legal risks and provide practical, business-focused recommendations to leadership and non-legal professionals.
  • Support TFHC’s mission, values, compliance standards, and organizational policies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school required.
  • Active Florida Bar membership in good standing required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of legal experience preferred.
  • Legal internships, externships, clerkships, law firm experience, or in-house legal experience may be considered toward the experience requirement.
  • Healthcare law, compliance, corporate transactions, contract review, or risk management experience preferred.
  • Strong interest in healthcare operations, community health, and mission-driven work.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong legal drafting, contract review, and negotiation skills.
  • Familiarity with healthcare privacy, fraud and abuse laws, regulatory compliance, and corporate legal matters.
  • Ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide clear, practical guidance.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain legal risks to non-legal professionals.
  • High level of professionalism, confidentiality, discretion, and sound judgment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with leadership, clinical teams, operations, and external legal partners.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
