How much do miter jobs pay per hour?

As of Jun 13, 2026, the average hourly pay for miter in the United States is $18.20, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $16.11 and $19.47 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are miters?

Miters are specialized woodworking or metalworking tools used to make precise angled cuts, typically at 45 degrees, to join two pieces together, most commonly at a corner. The term 'miter' can also refer to the resulting corner joint itself, such as in picture frames, molding, and trim. Miter saws and miter boxes are common tools used for making these cuts, helping ensure clean and accurate joints for a professional finish.

What is the difference between Miter vs Carpenter?

AspectMiterCarpenter
Required CredentialsHigh school diploma, some certifications in miter saw operationHigh school diploma, carpentry apprenticeship or certification
Work EnvironmentConstruction sites, woodworking shopsConstruction sites, renovation projects, carpentry workshops
Industry UsageSpecialized in precise angled cutsBroad carpentry tasks including framing, finishing, and custom woodworking

While a miter is a tool used for making precise angled cuts, a carpenter is a skilled tradesperson who performs a variety of construction and woodworking tasks. Carpenters often use a miter saw to achieve accurate cuts, but their role encompasses much more, including framing, installing fixtures, and finishing work. Understanding the difference helps clarify the specific skills and tools involved in each role.

What are some common safety challenges faced by miters, and how can they be effectively managed on the job?

Miters, who typically work with cutting and assembling materials at precise angles, often face safety challenges such as handling sharp tools, operating power saws, and managing dust or debris. To effectively manage these risks, it’s important to follow strict safety protocols, use personal protective equipment like safety goggles and gloves, and maintain a clean work area. Many workplaces also provide regular safety training and encourage open communication among team members to quickly address potential hazards. Staying vigilant and adhering to established safety practices helps ensure a safe and productive work environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Miter, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Miter (carpenter specializing in precise angled cuts), you need strong woodworking skills, attention to detail, and experience with carpentry techniques, typically supported by vocational training or apprenticeships. Proficiency in using miter saws, measuring tools, and other carpentry equipment is essential. Excellent problem-solving, manual dexterity, and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and team members are key soft skills. These skills ensure accurate, high-quality work, safety on the job, and satisfied clients.

Job description

A Better Built World
At Miter, we're on a mission to help construction contractors build with confidence. If we're successful, we'll make it easier and faster to build critical physical infrastructure - roads, bridges, utilities, data centers, housing, etc.
For decades, construction and field services contractors have had to run their businesses on outdated software: clunky, on-premise systems created in the 1980s and 1990s.
That's where Miter comes in. We're using AI and embedded payments to rebuild the core HR, finance, and operations systems that underpin our physical economy. Using Miter, contractors like Marathon Electrical, W.J. O'Neil, and Truebeck Construction are building stronger teams, controlling job costs, and accelerating jobsite execution.
This idea is resonating. Since we launched in 2021, we've grown to thousands of customers and tens of millions in ARR, making us one of the fastest growing vertical software companies ever. To double-down on our momentum, we've raised $50M+ from top investors (Bessemer, Coatue, and Battery) who share our belief that we're just getting started.
About the Team & How We Work:
Partnerships represents one of the most exciting and high-impact growth opportunities at Miter. Reporting directly to our Head of Sales, you'll work closely with Sales, Product, and Marketing to build and lead a partnerships function that becomes a durable, scalable revenue channel for the business.
This is a rare opportunity to architect something meaningful from the ground up - defining the strategy, expanding our partner ecosystem, supporting our existing partners, and building the infrastructure and processes that connect Miter's platform to the customers who will benefit most from it. You'll have direct visibility across the organization and a clear path to building and leading a team as the function scales. We're looking for a builder who is deeply customer-oriented, thrives in ambiguity, and wants to make a lasting impact in a $2T industry that is overdue for a technology transformation.
What You'll Do:
  • Build and scale Miter's partnerships function from scratch - covering program design, partner acquisition, relationship management, and channel infrastructure
  • Manage partner tiers, incentive structures, onboarding flows, and enablement programming
  • Coordinate co-sell motions with Sales, surface integration opportunities with Product, and support co-marketing with Marketing
  • Define and track core KPIs including partner-sourced pipeline, influenced ARR, activation rates, and goal attainment
  • Sign first partners, establish repeatable motions, and build the infrastructure that makes partnerships a durable revenue channel

What You'll Need:
  • 8+ years of experience in partnerships, business development, or channel sales, with at least 3 years in a SaaS environment and a track record of building or scaling a partnerships function
  • A strategic background with experience building operational and business processes from the ground up
  • Comfort architecting channel strategy, conducting market analysis, and driving execution
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms, data analytics tools, and AI; ability to build operational infrastructure including deal registration, attribution tracking, and performance reporting
  • Excellent relationship-building skills - someone who earns trust from external partners and internal stakeholders equally
  • A bias for action, strong operator instincts, and comfort with ambiguity; you think in systems and build processes that scale beyond yourself
  • Clear, direct communication skills with the ability to represent Miter to senior partners and influence cross-functional teams
  • Experience in the construction industry, vertical SaaS, or workforce/payroll software is a plus
  • Prior experience hiring and managing a team

Our Interview Process:
  • Recruiter Screen
  • Hiring Manager Interview
  • Take Home Assignment
  • Team Round Interviews
  • Final Executive Interview
Our Benefits:
  • Competitive Compensation: We offer competitive (well above "market") salary, commission, and equity packages.
  • Medical Insurance: Comprehensive medical, dental, FSA, vision plans to suit you and your family's needs.
  • 401(k) Retirement Plan: Company-matched contributions to help you plan for your future.
  • Unlimited PTO: Take the time you need to recharge and be your best self.
  • Parental Leave: Generous 16-week paid leave for all parents, including adoptive and foster parents.
  • Learning & Development: We offer every employee an annual educational allowance to explore external professional development.
  • Office Extras: Snacks, coffee, lunch, and commuter benefits for in-office Mitosaurs.
  • Community: Multiple company-wide and team-specific off-sites per year.
Hybrid vs. Remote Approach:
We believe the magic of Miter comes from working side by side. We also believe in work flexibility. For roles that are listed as hybrid, our approach is 3 days a week in the office giving us the chance to connect, brainstorm, and build stronger relationships. If you live within a reasonable commute to either our New York City or San Francisco offices, we ask that you work in our hybrid approach.
Otherwise, for roles listed as remote or in other cities where we don't have an office location, there is no requirement to work in our hybrid approach. We do travel a few times a year for onboarding, company-wide and team specific off-sites!

We are committed to a diverse and inclusive workforce and welcome people from all backgrounds, experiences, perspectives, and abilities.
