Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Department of Information Systems and Business Analytics (ISBA) in the Ivy College of Business at Iowa State University invites applications for a tenured position at the rank of Professor. The position includes an endowed chair for a distinguished candidate with an exceptional record of research excellence and leadership in Information Systems and Business Analytics.
The position holder will demonstrate the ability to maintain an active, high-quality research program that contributes to leading journals in MIS and related fields, demonstrate effectiveness in teaching, provide leadership in advancing the department's research and academic reputation, and fulfill normal service expectations.
This is a full-time, 9-month appointment beginning August 16, 2027. A later start date may also be considered. Initial review of applications will begin on September 30, 2026, but applications will continue to be accepted until the position is filled.
The position holder will conduct high-impact scholarly research suitable for publication in leading MIS journals such as Information Systems Research, Management Information Systems Quarterly, and The Journal of Management Information SystemsThe holder will also be expected to contribute to mentoring Ph.D. students, and teaching ISBA-related courses at the Ph.D. level, as well as undergraduate or Master's levels.
In addition, the position holder is expected to play a key role in advancing the department's research reputation through collaboration, mentorship, and leadership, helping to further enhance the department's national and international standing in ISBA research and education.
The appointment also carries the expectation of typical institutional and professional service for the rank of Professor.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship. Immigration sponsorship is not available for this position.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in MIS or a closely related field
  • An outstanding record of scholarship, eligible for a tenured position at Iowa State University
  • An established and active record of publishing research in top-tier IS journals such as Information Systems Research, Management Information Systems Quarterly, and The Journal of Management Information Systems

Preferred Qualifications:
  • An influential scholarly reputation, as evidenced by scholarly citations and service to the profession
  • An active research pipeline, including papers targeted or invited for revision at premier journals
  • Experience in mentoring junior faculty and doctoral students
  • Experience as a full-time, tenure track or tenured faculty member
  • A record of effective teaching of ISBA-related courses

ISBA faculty have received doctorates from premier programs such as Arizona, Carnegie Mellon, Indiana, Northwestern University, and UT Dallas. ISBA faculty have active research projects in business analytics, cybersecurity, healthcare, IT strategy, artificial intelligence, and other IS and analytic areas. Ph.D. students graduating from the ISBA department have been placed at schools such as Notre Dame, Alabama, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Mississippi State, University of Cincinnati, and Florida Atlantic University.
