A Ministry Coach is a professional who provides guidance, support, and training to individuals or teams involved in church or faith-based ministries. Their role is to help ministry leaders develop their skills, address challenges, set goals, and achieve greater effectiveness in their work. Ministry Coaches often use coaching techniques to empower leaders, encourage spiritual growth, and facilitate organizational development within churches or religious organizations.

How does a ministry coach support and collaborate with church leaders and volunteers?

Ministry Coaches often work closely with church leaders and volunteers to provide guidance, encouragement, and practical strategies for ministry growth. This collaboration usually involves one-on-one meetings, team workshops, and ongoing mentorship to identify challenges, set goals, and develop action plans. Ministry Coaches also facilitate communication between different ministry areas, ensuring alignment with the church’s mission and vision. Building trust and fostering a supportive environment are key aspects of the role, as coaches help leaders and volunteers grow both personally and in their ministry effectiveness.

Job description

NorthPoint Church is seeking a passionate and relational Kids Ministry Resident to join a growing, community-focused church in Northwest Des Moines. This part-time (20 hours/week) residency is designed to develop the next generation of church leaders by providing hands-on ministry experience, intentional leadership development, and meaningful mentorship.

The resident will work closely with staff gaining exposure to church operations, leadership rhythms, and team collaboration. NorthPoint is a close-knit staff culture that works hard, has fun, and prioritizes strong relationships, curiosity, and assuming the best in others.
This residency is ideal for someone who feels called to ministry, desires to grow as a leader, and wants to be equipped for future roles within the local church. The goal is to prepare residents to be highly effective ministry leaders, whether at NorthPoint or beyond.
