Job description

Scope of Position
The Vallejo Company is seeking a skilled Milling & Clean-Up Operator to join our team for heavy highway and asphalt paving projects across Ohio. The primary responsibility is operating a Rubber Tire Backhoe equipped with a 4-in-1 Bucket to perform clean-up, material handling, and grading behind asphalt milling operations. You will ensure the work zone is clean, safe and ready for paving.
Essential Functions
  • Operate power equipment such as rubber tire backhoes with a 4-in-1 bucket to scoop, scrape, clamshell and bulldoze asphalt millings and debris.
  • Work closely with the milling machine crew to manage the ground area, clear tracks, and remove excess material efficiently.
  • Perform detailed clean-up of the milled surface, joints, and edges to prepare the sub-base.
  • Knowledgeable with OUPS and utility line markings
  • Daily inspection and basic maintenance as required
  • Digs, spreads and levels dirt, gravel, asphalt or sand.
  • Operating and tending machinery and heavy equipment.
  • Following instructions from supervisors and implementing construction plans.
  • Assisting skilled tradespeople in their duties.

  • Part of or willingness to join Local 18
  • Has teamwork, communication, and strong listening skills
  • Adaptable to changes and ability to problem-solve.
  • Experience in the respected department you are seeking to join
  • Class A CDL - not required but encouraged.
  • Be physically active for long periods without getting tired or out of breath. Bend, stretch, twist, or reach out. Use fingers to grasp, move, or assemble very small objects. Adjust body movements or equipment controls to keep pace with speed changes of moving objects.
  • May be required to operate 40-hour machinery; if this is required for specific position providing additional information and proof of skills may be asked
  • Ability to lift minimum 50-75lbs
