Job description

Position Title: Milling I

Reporting to: Milling Foreman

Department: Milling

Location: Athens, AL

Essential Job Functions:

  • Operate mechanical brooms, street sweepers, or manual brooms to clean surfaces such as roads, parking lots, or sidewalks
  • Perform sweeping tasks to remove debris, dust, leaves, and other materials from designated areas
  • Load, unload, and stack materials, equipment, and tools
  • Use small and medium hand/power tools to complete various tasks
  • Clean and prepare construction sites
  • Dig trenches, compact earth, and backfill holes
  • Following instructions from supervisors and implementing construction plans
  • Keep the work area clean and free of debris, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment
  • Provide support to skilled tradespeople, including carrying tools, holding materials, or assisting with specific tasks
  • Maintain a high level of quality work at all times
  • Maintain good relationships with Technicians, Foreman, Superintendents, Inspectors, Developers, and other co-workers at all times
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work tasks
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Represent and promote Grayson Carter and Son in a professional and honest manner


Job Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate and convey information effectively
  • Must be physically able to stand, walk, sit, crouch, kneel, climb, and periodically lift 75 pounds
  • Knowledge of OSHA Standards
  • Ability to obtain Arsenal Badge and FBI Badge preferred, but not required
  • Dependable transportation
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on all job sites as required
  • Work weekends and overtime as needed
  • Committed to attending work each day
  • Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen
