Job Description

This role focuses on setting up, operating, and programming 5-axis CNC machines to produce precision components that meet strict engineering and quality standards. You will interpret complex blueprints, perform detailed machine setups, adjust and edit offsets, and use CAM software to support efficient and accurate machining operations. You maintain a strong commitment to safety, quality, and production efficiency while working within an ISO and AS9100-compliant environment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up 5-axis CNC machines for production, including tooling, fixturing, and program loading according to engineering specifications.
  • Operate 5-axis CNC machines to manufacture precision components while monitoring performance and making necessary adjustments.
  • Program and edit CNC programs using CAM software and on-machine controls to optimize machining processes.
  • Adjust and edit machine offsets to maintain dimensional accuracy and part quality throughout production runs.
  • Read and interpret complex engineering blueprints, drawings, and technical documentation to determine machining requirements.
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools to verify that all dimensions and tolerances meet specifications.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and scrap.
  • Maintain quality standards and documentation in alignment with ISO and AS9100 requirements.
  • Follow established safety procedures and best practices to ensure a safe and organized work area.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve processes, increase efficiency, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Skills

  • Strong blueprint-reading skills, including the ability to interpret complex drawings, tolerances, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Ability to adjust and edit machine offsets to maintain tight tolerances and consistent part quality.
  • Experience inspecting parts using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and production efficiency in a manufacturing setting.
  • Familiarity with working under ISO and AS9100 quality standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience using Mastercam or similar advanced CAM software for 5-axis CNC programming.
  • Experience in complex machining operations involving tight tolerances and intricate geometries.
  • Exposure to aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated industries where ISO and AS9100 standards apply.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot machining and programming issues.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
