Position Overview

The Millennial Counseling Centre is actively seeking a compassionate and skilled Mental Health Therapist to join our dedicated team in a remote, full-time capacity. This role is pivotal in delivering specialized mental health care tailored to individuals affected by trauma. As a therapist, you will have the opportunity to make a profound impact on the lives of our patients by guiding them through their recovery journey.

About the Organization

Millennial Counseling Centre, located in Rochester, New York, is committed to providing exceptional outpatient mental health services. Our mission is to foster a safe, supportive environment where trauma survivors can find healing and resilience. As a leader in trauma-informed care, we focus primarily on treating conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex trauma, and dissociative disorders, ensuring our patients receive the best therapeutic support possible.

Work Environment

This position offers a unique remote work setting, enabling flexibility and work-life balance while you serve patients from the comfort of your own space. While primarily remote, the role involves collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, providing an enriching professional environment. Our supportive culture encourages ongoing learning, open communication, and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough, trauma-informed mental health assessments that evaluate patientsโ€™ trauma history, and help identify suitable evidence-based treatment approaches.
  • Develop and implement personalized treatment plans aimed at trauma recovery and resilience-building for diverse patient profiles.
  • Utilize established therapeutic interventions, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), to facilitate healing.
  • Deliver individual and group therapy sessions aimed at helping patients process trauma, establish coping strategies, and progress towards recovery.
  • Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, social workers, and rehabilitation professionals to provide comprehensive integrated care for patients.
  • Provide crisis intervention support during trauma-related emergencies, ensuring immediate and effective response for clients in distress.
  • Educate patients and their families about trauma responses and coping mechanisms, empowering them with valuable resources.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations and ethical standards, utilizing electronic health record (EHR) systems for efficient data management.
  • Participate actively in case consultations, team meetings, and professional development activities focused on trauma-informed care practices.
  • Stay informed about current research and best practices related to trauma therapy to enhance therapeutic effectiveness.
Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will primarily work with individuals experiencing the effects of various trauma-related disorders, including PTSD, complex trauma, and dissociative disorders. Many of our patients are navigating profound emotional challenges and are seeking a compassionate guide to assist them in their healing process. Your expertise will play a crucial role in fostering resilience and aiding in their psychological recovery.

Qualifications
  • A master's degree or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Current and valid licensure as an LCSW, LMHC, or LMFT in New York State.
  • A strong foundational knowledge of trauma-related disorders and trauma-informed therapeutic approaches.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to create a safe space for clients.
  • Proficiency in utilizing electronic health record (EHR) systems and related computer applications to ensure efficient documentation and patient management.
Preferred Experience
  • At least two years of post-licensure experience in mental health counseling focused on trauma recovery.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering trauma-focused therapies and interventions.
  • Strong ability to maintain composure in high-stress situations, ensuring effective patient support.
  • Past experience working in an outpatient office or clinic setting is a plus.
Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is between USD 90,000 and 100,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition to competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive healthcare benefits package, a retirement savings plan with employer-matching contributions, generous paid time off (PTO), and holiday pay. Professional liability insurance coverage and continuing education opportunities further enhance the overall compensation package.
