Job Summary:

The Groups and Military Assistant Manager is responsible for partnering with the Groups and Military Program Manager in planning, developing, and implementing all custom group and military-related experiences. This position involves administrative and programmatic responsibilities primarily focusing on program implementation, scheduling, risk management, training, and excellent customer service. This position is a full-time, year-round position with benefits that requires a non-traditional schedule with work on weekends and occasional holidays depending on programming requirements. This position is not eligible for remote work.


Essential Duties:

  • Plan, implement, and evaluate experiences for custom groups, families, and service members.
  • Serve as Manager on Duty when necessary for the Program Team.
  • Oversee program logistics, including scheduling and coordinating program facilities/sites, group transportation, and programming equipment, ensuring smooth program execution.
  • Manage staff schedules, approve timecards, and ensure proper staff levels for all group activities.
  • Assist in hiring, training, and supervising group facilitators, providing ongoing coaching and performance feedback.
  • Work closely with the Reservations Team to ensure lodge bookings, catering needs, paperwork, and waivers are prepared for group arrival.
  • Assist the Groups and Military Manager in planning, implementing, and tracking groups and military department goals, budgets, statistics, and grants.
  • Serve as a group lead for internally recruited retreats granted by NAC donors.
  • Implement and supervise safety/risk management protocols.ย 
  • Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations, including vehicle operation and participant safety standards in all programming activities.
  • Programmatic responsibilities include attending seasonal training, facilitating programs as needed for groups, and acting as a backup for the program team.
  • Serve as a Group Facilitator for various program activities when necessary.
  • Perform other managerial duties that support the organization's mission and strategic goals.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Recreational Therapy or a related field or 2 years of experience working in a related field.ย 
  • 2 years of experience working with a variety of disabilities and medical diagnosis.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
  • Current first aid and CPR certification, or willing to obtain.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Ability to safely drive a 15-passenger Van and/or Bus.
  • Be able to maintain a Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) physical.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. We do not sponsor employment visas or other immigration processes to attain or maintain employment eligibility.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in adaptive recreation.
  • Military service and/or experience working with service members and veterans.
  • Experience working with Microsoft applications.
  • Experience with Salesforce.

  • A passion for outdoor recreation, skiing/snowboarding, and mountain biking.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to lift and maneuver equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. while supporting programs and group activities.
  • Available and willing to work a non-traditional schedule that may include occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially as needed for projects and special events.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors while running programming activities in various weather conditions, including extreme weather conditions.
  • Ability to drive a truck or van while pulling a trailer.
