Job description

Description

This position is currently filled, however we are accepting applications for Ready Replacement Pool consideration. 


Prevailance is seeking an experienced, mission-focused professional to support the Surface Warfare Engineering Schools Command (SWESC) and PMS 339 Specialized Engineering as a Landing Craft Utility (LCU) Contractor Instructor. The role involves providing instruction, operation, testing, remediation, curriculum updates, administration, safety, and management support services for formalized naval training.


The LCU Instructor supports technical and military training for U.S. and Allied naval enlisted personnel in Coronado, CA, ensuring upgrades and improvements to instruction as needed.


Responsibilities:

  • Prepare classrooms, workstations, and labs, ensuring all equipment and instructional materials are ready before instruction
  • Perform operational checks on classroom, workstation, and lab training equipment, devices, and aids
  • Identify and document deficiencies in training equipment, devices, or instructional aids and recommend corrective actions to the Technical Authority (TA) and Contracting Officer's Representative (COR)
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of instructional materials and student forms
  • Submit written reports on material discrepancies or issues preventing course instruction to SWESC, PMS 339, or the applicable training site

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of the Navy Instructor Training Course (CIN: A-012-0077) (NEC 9502) or equivalent instructor training course
  • Minimum of three (3) years of technical experience in the subject matter being instructed
  • At least two (2) years of experience in a Military Training Environment
  • Knowledge of learning principles, practices, and methods for presenting course content, testing, remediation, and use of training aids, electronic podiums, and lab equipment

Specific Qualifications:

  • Former Senior (E6-E9) Surface Ship EN (Engineman), MM (Machinist's Mate), or EM (Electrician's Mate)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of safety procedures and detailed expertise in the operation, casualty control, preventive maintenance, and corrective maintenance of LCU vessels

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Clearance:

  • Must be able to obtain a favorable background investigation
