Military Armorer Jobs (NOW HIRING)

We are seeking Armorers (OBMLS Specialist II) to perform support for classroom and field laboratory instruction for U.S. Navy high-risk training evolutions.

• Perform training support duties associated with the delivery of small arms and crew served weapons training. A Armorer performs maintenance on small arms, weapons, weapon mounts, Visual Augmentation Systems (VAS), marking cartridge adapter kits, and Small Arms Weapons Simulators (SAWS). Related tasks include, but are not limited to, detailed disassembly and assembly, cleaning, inspection, lubrication, gaging, troubleshooting, repair, modification, and documentation of maintenance in electronic service records.
• Handle ammunition and explosives (AE): receipt, segregation, storage, issuance, inventory, sub-custody transfer, and shipping; conduct motor vehicle inspections; certify Hazard Class 1 materials for transportation; handle range-related debris and Material Potentially Presenting an Explosive Hazard (MPPEH); account for AE in official records via computer-based applications.
• Read and understand technical manuals and drawings; identify, requisition, and manage inventories of repair parts, tools, and consumables; develop SAWS courses of fire.
• Maintenance of all weapons and associated equipment, including:
  • MK-19 MOD 3 40mm grenade launcher
  • M203 40mm grenade launcher
  • M2HB .50-caliber heavy machinegun
  • M240B 7.62mm medium machinegun
  • MK48 MOD 1 7.62mm lightweight machinegun
  • M4A1 5.56mm rifle

• Maintenance Management of Training Unique Equipment (TUE), including:
  • Tactical Training Simulators (TTS)
  • Mobile Weapons Firing Trailers (MWFT)
  • Small Arms Weapons Simulators (SAWS)
  • Modular Indoor Firing Ranges (MIFR)
• Ammunition management: dispositioning, handling, MPPEH processing, receipting, storing, segregating, issuing (RSSI), and reporting via OIS-R and TAMIS.
• Support equipment, facilities, and material maintenance and management activities, including:
  • Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives (AA&E) Storage Facilities
  • Civil Engineering Support Equipment (CESE)
  • Government Owned/Leased Non-tactical Vehicles
  • Material Handling Equipment (MHE)
  • Visual Augmentation Systems (VAS)
  • Repair parts inventory
  • Tools and Consumables Items
  • Training Aids (Target stands, barricades, static vehicles, etc.)
  • Weapons Based Training Facilities
  • Weapon Mounts
• Development of documentation in support of ordnance-based maintenance and logistics processes, including:
  • AA&E Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • Conventional Ordnance Deficiency Reports (CODR)
  • Explosive Event Reports (EER)
  • Explosive Mishap Reports (EMR)
  • Product Quality Deficiency Reports (PQDR)
  • Supply Discrepancy Reports (SDR)
  • Technical Manual Deficiency/Evaluation Report (TMDER)
• Transportation of weapons and ammunition from storage facilities to live ranges.
• Storage and accountability for weapons and ammunition per Navy directives.
• Attend training courses to obtain requisite certifications as appropriate.
• Familiarity with the Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives (AA&E) Program as detailed in OPNAVINST 5530.13D.
• Research directives, regulations, and policies to determine solutions to problems.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, excellent presentation skills.
• Experience in technical writing (military manuals).
• Excellent interpersonal skills and commitment to customer service.
• Proactive problem identification and resolution.
• Ability to manage and meet deadlines.
• Familiarity with computers and working knowledge of Microsoft Office®.
• Understanding of standards implementation and maintenance.
• Work performed in an AE storage facility, live-fire range facilities, and occasionally on small watercraft.
• Work may be indoors or outdoors, in inclement weather, high humidity, extreme heat or cold.
• High-stress environment due to training tempo.
• Qualify as an AE worker with mature, stable judgment; annual AE screening and qualification.
• Enhanced organizational level maintenance on weapons and other training equipment.
• Manage small arms, ammunition, repair parts, tools, and ancillary equipment.
• Transport small arms and ammunition to and from training locations.

• U.S. Citizenship.
• Associate’s degree and three (3) years of experience, or four (4) years of military experience in lieu of a degree.
• Minimum of three (3) years of preventative/corrective weapons maintenance experience and two (2) years in an ammunition and weapons management environment.
• Satisfy the requirements of the Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.
• Completed U.S. military armorer’s courses (preferred: CENSECFOR EOLM, NSW EOLM, NECC EOLM).

• Familiarity with the Firearms Training Systems (FATS®) simulator preferred.
• Mandatory medical, psychological, and drug screenings.
• In-depth knowledge of night vision, lasers, weapons, and weapon sight technologies.
• Experience in troubleshooting complex malfunctions.
• Skill in use of hand tools, test equipment, and precision measuring equipment.
• Ability to interpret technical manuals, illustrations, specifications, and diagrams.
• Basic computer operations knowledge for inventory control and maintenance record keeping.
• Active state driver’s license.
• Class B or C Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with HAZMAT endorsement for ammunition transport.
