PITT COUNTY SCHOOLS
Office of Federal Programs

Hours: Flexible Schedule, Field-Based (Maximum of 20 hours per week)
Position Type: Other/Data Processing
Compensation: Hourly Rate + Mileage Reimbursement
Location: Will be based out of the Pitt County Schools Moye Annex, but the majority of time will be spent doing field work at camp sites and agricultural farms within Pitt County.
Date Available: As soon as possible
Closing Date: Open Until Filled
This is a temporary seasonal position for the months of April, May, June and July.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Under the general supervision of the Migrant Coordinator and Director of Federal Programs, the Migrant Education Part-Time Bilingual Recruiter is responsible for identifying and recruiting eligible migratory children (ages 03-21) for the Migrant Education Program at camp sites, and agricultural farms within the Pitt County Region. This is field work-it means meeting people where they are, literally. 
Key Responsibilities:










  • Travel to farms, camp sites, packing facilities, and rural communities to locate eligible Out-of-School Youth.
  • Identify and recruit eligible migratory students in compliance with district, federal and state policy.
  • Regularly travels within Pitt County in order to conduct in-person interviews with Out-of-School Youth (OSY) to complete the Certificate of Eligibility (COE).
  • Build and maintain partnerships with farm owners, businesses, and community agencies.
  • Advocate for migratory student access to educational and support services.
  • Maintain accurate electronic records and complete reports in a timely manner.
  • Attend training, meeting, and professional development events.
  • Organize your schedule independently to align with farm and family availability.
  • Represent the values of Pitt County Schools with professionalism and cultural sensitivity.
  • Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and integrity at all times.

Qualifications:
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Additional education or relevant training is a bonus.
  • Language Skills: Must be bilingual in Spanish and English
  • Transportation: Valid North Carolina Driver's License, must have reliable transportation,and current auto insurance required.
  • Knowledge of: Local agricultural regions and migrant community dynamics.
  • Skills in: Communication, organization, documentation, basic computer use. Experience in recruitment, or working with farmworker or migratory populations is a plus.
  • Availability: Must be flexible and willing to work non-traditional hours (evenings, and weekends) to meet recruitment goals.
  • Must pass a background check, drug screening, and program specific training.
