Job description

Job Summary

The Supervisor Production Accounting is responsible for overseeing the accurate and timely recording, reconciliation, and reporting of natural gas and liquids production volumes. This position leads the production accounting team, ensures compliance with regulatory reporting requirements, and partners with Operations, Engineering, Commercial, and Finance teams to support production data integrity and business decision-making.

This role requires broad knowledge of production accounting principles, gas measurement, and oil and gas regulatory reporting. Works under limited supervision, leads a team of production accountants, and is accountable for the accuracy and timeliness of production records and reporting.

Demonstrates integrity, accountability and transparency; upholds BKV standards, values and culture.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and develop the production accounting team; assign workloads, set expectations, and conduct performance reviews.
  • Oversee the accurate and timely recording of daily, monthly, and annual production volumes for natural gas, NGLs, condensate, and water.
  • Ensure production volumes are reconciled with measurement data, SCADA, and sales records; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Manage regulatory production reporting obligations including state agency reporting, RRC filings, and other compliance submissions.
  • Partner with Operations to ensure field measurement data, meter readings, and production records are accurate and complete.
  • Coordinate with Commercial and Finance teams to ensure production data supports revenue recognition, joint interest billing, and financial reporting.
  • Oversee gas balancing activities and manage production imbalances with partners and purchasers.
  • Develop, document, and continuously improve production accounting processes, controls, and procedures.
  • Support audits, acquisitions, and divestitures by providing production data and reconciliation support.
  • Stay current on regulatory requirements, production accounting standards, and industry best practices.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of natural gas production accounting principles, gas measurement, and volumetric reconciliation.
  • Understanding of oil and gas regulatory reporting requirements including Texas RRC, state agency filings, and DOT reporting.
  • Experience with production accounting software and data management systems (e.g., Quorum, P2, Enertia, or similar).
  • Ability to analyze large volumes of production data, identify discrepancies, and implement corrective actions.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and job-related applications. Uses insights from digital tools to ensure data accuracy and improve reporting efficiency.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills, including clear shift handoff and accurate reporting of operating conditions.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with various internal teams and stakeholders.

Education & Experience

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field required. Commensurate work experience considered.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of oil and gas production accounting experience.
  • Previous supervisory or team lead experience required.

Preferred

  • Experience with gas balancing, joint interest accounting, or midstream accounting preferred.
