Role Summary

The Technology department at Oaktree Capital Management delivers secure, scalable, and innovative solutions that power the firm's global investment and business operations. Through strong partnerships across the company, we drive digital transformation, advance operational efficiency, and provide a trusted data foundation to create measurable impact for Oaktree's teams, clients, and partners.

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Vice President of Cloud Architect to lead the design, governance, and evolution of our Microsoft Azure cloud environment. This role is central to building a secure, scalable, and well-governed cloud foundation that supports our financial services operations and long-term modernization goals.

The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Azure Landing Zone architecture, Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework, Azure Well-Architected Framework, and security frameworks such as NIST Cybersecurity Framework (NIST-CSF) and ISO 27001. They will play a key role in shaping our enterprise architecture, cloud strategy, and operational maturity.

Responsibilities

Architecture & Design

  • Lead the design and implementation of Azure Landing Zones aligned with Microsoft best practices.
  • Develop and maintain cloud architecture standards, reference models, and reusable patterns.
  • Ensure cloud environments are secure, scalable, and optimized for performance, cost, and compliance.

Governance & Process Development

  • Establish governance models and processes that support control, repeatability, and predictability in cloud deployments.
  • Create frameworks for easy consumption of cloud services across teams.
  • Guide remediation plans for existing deployments that do not meet current standards.

Cloud Strategy & Program Maturity

  • Contribute to the development and evolution of the enterprise cloud strategy.
  • Drive adoption of frameworks such as NIST-CSF, ISO 27001, and the Azure Well-Architected Framework.
  • Help mature the organization's cloud capabilities, including practices like FinOps, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).
  • Envision and implement Agentic AI Workflows.
  • Drive cross functional remediation efforts and adoption of best practice.

Collaboration & Enablement

  • Partners with DevOps, Infrastructure, and Information Security teams to define and implement cloud standards and automation practices.
  • Support workload migrations from on-premises data centers and AWS into Azure.
  • Foster a shift in skillsets across teams to support cloud-native operations and modern infrastructure practices.
  • Contribute to the development of enterprise architecture and data management best practices.

Qualifications

  • 7-10 years of experience as a Cloud Architect in a financial services or regulated industry.
  • Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure, including Landing Zones, governance, security, and automation.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework, Azure Well-Architected Framework, NIST-CSF, and ISO 27001.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft tools such as Azure Policy, Blueprints, Defender for Cloud, and ARM/Bicep templates.
  • Experience with cloud migration strategies and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Experience implementing Zero Trust, Micro Segmentation, DLP, and Load Balancing
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Base Salary Range

$190,000 - $225,000

In addition to a competitive base salary, you will be eligible to receive discretionary bonus incentives, acomprehensive benefits package and a flexible work arrangement. The base salary offered will be commensurate with experience and/or qualifications, industry knowledge and expertise, as well as prior training and education.
