Job description

About the Position

We are seeking a Salesforce Technical Architect to provide enterprise-level technical leadership for the design, integration, and evolution of Salesforce solutions within the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Information and Technology (OIT) Salesforce implementation. This is part of a strategic effort to establish comprehensive, end-to-end Salesforce professional services for CBP, equipped to handle the full spectrum of operational and application development requests. This role is responsible for defining architecture standards, guiding development teams, and ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with organizational goals. The ideal candidate brings deep Salesforce expertise, strong systems integration experience, and the ability to translate complex business requirements into robust technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and maintain enterprise Salesforce architecture, including data models, integrations, and system design standards
  • Lead solution design for new applications, enhancements, and platform modernization efforts
  • Ensure alignment with best practices for scalability, performance, security, and maintainability
  • Provide technical oversight and guidance to development teams, including code reviews and design validation
  • Architect and support integrations with external systems using APIs, middleware, and event-driven patterns
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions and roadmaps
  • Support DevSecOps practices, including CI/CD pipeline design, automation, and environment strategy
  • Ensure compliance with federal security standards, including data protection and access control requirements
  • Evaluate emerging Salesforce technologies and recommend adoption strategies
  • Mentor technical staff and support knowledge transfer across teams

    Qualifications:

    • 8+ years of IT experience and a Bachelors (or higher) degree from an accredited college or university in computer science or other related discipline
    • Deep understanding of Salesforce security model, including data access controls and permissions
    • ExperiencewithfulllifecycleAgileprogrammanagement in Salesforce
    • Experiencedeliveringsolutionstoproductionand/ormigratinglegacyapplicationstonew modern platforms including Salesforce
    • Experiencesupporting cross-functionalteamsinahighlycollaborativeworkenvironment
    • Ability to design efficient and scalable data models within Salesforce
    • Proficiency in integration patterns and middleware to connect Salesforce with other systems

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address challenges and design effective solutions
    • Familiarity with release management, source control, and deployment technologies for efficient software delivery

    Preferred Qualifications/Skills:

    • A Salesforce Certified Technical Architect certification from a recognized credentialing agency is preferred

    • Must be able to pass a government background investigation

      This is a full-time position, requiring a 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday, with core business hours from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

      The anticipated start date for this position is August 1, 2026.
