Middle Office Trade Support roles are positions within financial institutions responsible for ensuring the smooth processing and settlement of trades. They act as a bridge between the front office (traders and sales teams) and the back office (operations and settlements), handling trade booking, confirmation, reconciliation, and resolving discrepancies. Their work is essential in managing trade risk, ensuring compliance with regulations, and maintaining accurate records. These professionals often collaborate closely with various departments to address issues quickly and support overall trading operations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a middle office trade support?

To thrive as a Middle Office Trade Support professional, you need a solid understanding of financial products, trade lifecycle processes, and risk management, typically supported by a degree in finance, economics, or a related field. Familiarity with trade capture systems (such as Calypso or Murex), Excel, and reconciliation tools is essential, and some roles may require experience with regulatory reporting platforms.
