Job description

POSITION NOT YET FUNDED. NAVANTI IS CURRENTLY ACCEPTING RESUMES FROM CANDIDATES FOR ANTICIPATED SECURITY AND STABILIZATION WORK COVERING THE MIDDLE EAST.

Navanti has an anticipated need for a Middle East Analyst to work with our multidisciplinary team who can use his/her knowledge of politics, government, and social issues within the region. Candidates should have knowledge and/or experience in the Middle East region to gather and analyze data pertinent to the media environment, demographics, and security affairs. The candidate will be responsible for collecting information from open sources including regional and other non-English news outlets, social media, blogs, academic literature, local contacts, and other sources and writing analytical products.
 
Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of relevant work experience, 1+  years working experience in the region preferred
  • Open-source analysis experience in a professional environment
  • Social Network Analysis experience in a professional environment
  • Media Analysis experience in a professional environment
  • Quantitative analysis experience in a professional environment
  • Excellent writing and communications skills
  • Strong attention to detail

Desired Experience:

  • Strong working and/or academic knowledge of the Middle East, with demonstrated enthusiasm for subject matter. Knowledge of many countries in the region.
  • Experience living in the region preferred 
  • Experience conducting media analysis and/or social media analysis preferred
  • Experience with open data is a plus (e.g. OpenStreetMaps)
  • Quantitative analysis is a plus
  • Geospatial analysis skills is a plus

Education:

  • BA/BS minimum; MA in related area of study preferred

Clearance:

  • None required; ability to receive and maintain a minimum Secret clearance preferred

Language:

  • Professional fluency in Arabic required (ILR 3 or higher), exposure to Levantine dialect preferred
